I love this movie. How tragic that Scarlett was always yearning for Ashley while Rhett loves her so much. Too bad she did not appreciate Rhett's love until it was too late. If only she realizes it sooner, maybe there would be a happy ending. I would like to think that somehow they do eventually get back together.
@JenniferBrigitteOpticalVortex9 жыл бұрын
Ly Li The saddest moment in the movie is when she realizes she was in love with Rhett the entire time and she just wanted Rhett to have Ashley's personality because he was easier to control than Rhett. The worst thing she did was break a man who was willing to be equal with her. Rhett was the great man who deserved happiness.
@mfjdv20207 жыл бұрын
Yes, but they were both to blame for all the misunderstandings between them. Don't go blaming Scarlett only. Rhett's behaviour to her wasn't always the best either. Both are real human beings and both are equally "guilty" in their separate ways. The big mistake they both made was that they weren't open with each other about their feelings. They didn't communicate as they should have.
@JenniferBrigitteOpticalVortex7 жыл бұрын
All Rhett could have said was I love you and showed her he could be sensitive instead of the sarcastic harsh jerk he used as a facade. If he had kicked open the door when she was miscarrying the same way he did when he got angry, she would have known his love was true. She wanted him so much the same way he cried because he thought she didn't love him. They both messed up so bad!
@mm53717 жыл бұрын
Ly Li Scarlett wasn't still caught up on Ashley. She was totally in love with Rhett. Scarlett knew she had found her soulmate -her one. They were both carbon copies of each other who loved on another unconditionally. But, at some point it was on Rhett to reach out and say he was sorry. Scarlett would take him back.

Mmmh? WTF are you talking about? Rhett always loved her openly, with no pride. He apologizes several times to her. The only one who never was open was Scarlett. She even was a traitor to Rhett, to her sisters, to Melanie, etc. So that witch deserved to be alone at the end.

Love this video and love Scarlett and Rhett best on screen couple of all time in my opinion. Their feelings are so real and deep and Scarlett is just to stubborn to see it until the end. However I have always chosen to believe they definitely ended up together. With her spirit and his feelings for her it would be silly to think they wouldn't. This video is such escapism so thanks for making it.

Margaret K: I'm with you. Those two immortal and unforgettable characters were and always will be made for each other. Margaret Mitchell may have said she couldn't see them getting back together again but I am sure they did, probably after a few years apart. Scarlett had already developed and matured out of her spoilt-little-16-year-old phase by the end of Gone with the Wind. She had gone through a learning process in her life as we all do (albeit a particularly rough one in her case). She really had such a terrible time during and after the war that I'd like to think she and Rhett really did get back together in the end. They both deserve it, in a positive sense of course. I mean, Rhett is just as much to blame as Scarlett for all the misunderstandings they had. Yet oddly enough, it's always Scarlett who gets the blame for everything among readers and filmgoers.

I never understood how or why she realizes that in a second. Is that a plot fail? She hated Rhett all the time and when Melanie dies, PUM! She loved Rhett. WTF! I think the film was too long and there wasn´t any time to develop property the love she starts to feel about Rhett. Not even the Rhett Character bought that, i think that´s why he left.

I always wished that they could have just taken a minute, when he brought Bonnie home. Because it was clear that she was happy to see him. And she didn't want him to go away again. That scene breaks my heart. And then to the tragedy of losing the baby. Just so tragic.

When I read Gone with the Wind, I was worried that one of them would be dead. Just by reading its title. But this story wouldn't become classic if it didn't end the way it did. This is something that I can hold on to. That at least Rhett isn't dead and that there is hope of getting him back someday! I still believe that Scarlett got Rhett back. In time she did. Because I believe in Mrs. Scarlett Butler! She and Rhett are perfect for each other! Belong to each other! I don't think Rhett could ever find a woman as "unlady" as he always admired in her. This time, Scarlett will learn a lot of lesson and will be matured enough. She'll think of some way to bring him back! "She could get Rhett back. She knew she could" Who knows! There is a part of me who suspects that Rhett was actually testing Scarlett. He used to do that tactic of leaving the country but in the end, returning back home. "I take it, then you do not want a divorce or even a separation? Well, then. I'll come back often enough to keep gossip down." Anyone who doesn't give a damn will not be bothered of being committed! Rhett's exit was a perfect move that will benefit them both. I believe when they reconcile again, there will be no finer couple in town as much as those two!

Hollywood movies of the 50's and 60's are really worth watching than today's tasteless movies. The script is based on historical facts and was produced by talented directors who delivered fantastic films despite the lack of current technology. You hear wonderful songs, see romance, action, drama played by talented and good-looking actors who really claim their title to be Legends of Hollywood. You get emotionally moved by this film.

I know you wrote your comment a while ago but I just want to share in your joy over the immortal love story of Scarlet right. I encourage you to read the book if you ever get a chance. In the book you can easily see how much rent love to Scarlet. In the book he comes around much more is more involved in her life than in the movie. Also, in the book you can see that Scarlet is beginning to have feelings for him sooner. It’s just too tragic for the heart to register that the relationship is irretrievably broken and all she has left is memories. I always hold out hope that they get back together because of the book he would always say things like, “I’ve always had a weakness for loss causes”. Also, in the book he does not say he will divorce her. If he was really done with her wouldn’t he divorce her? In the book he said he’ll keep coming back around to keep gossip down. Unfortunately, It is possible in that time in the 1870s that a divorce could only be procured if there was an actual adultery. Scarlet could’ve divorced him because he had adultery and that was allowed back then but I don’t believe there’s proof that Scarlett had adultery on him so maybe he could not divorce her anyway. Not sure on that point. Anyway, I always hold out hope but I’m just not sure. Anyway, as I said earlier read the book. It is excellent. The movie was very, very good but the book was excellent.

ALWAYS felt GWTW incomplete. She FINALLY realizes her love for Rhett, but they are not together in the end. A sequel without Gable isn't a sequel. We are left to imagine she will get Rhett back, because after all , she is Scarlett. But it would have been wonderful to see it happen.

Hi! The name of the song is: "It is all coming back." by Celine Dion
@Kebaman3912 жыл бұрын
It is the scene right after Rhett and Scarlett marry. They're on their honeymoon and Scarlett has her nightmare where she's running in the mist. Rhett comforts her and says that he'll make her safe in order for her dream to go away. The scene before this is where Scarlett tells Rhett that Mammy called them "Mules in horses's harnesses" and the scene following it is when she and Rhett are walking at Tara. Hope this helps =)

I have watched this repeatedly and it is amazing! I love that someone else heard this song and thought of Gone with the Wind, like I did XD It is a beautiful song and really reflects the GWTW storyline well. I am writing a fanfiction where Scarlett and Rhett get together right after her fall, but I do agree with Margaret Mitchell when she said that they would never get back together again after the end of the book. Rhett has gambled everything and lost, Scarlett has gambled everything and lost, and neither of them are ready to put their hearts under that weight of pressure again. Sure, Scarlett apologizes in the end, but it is still, I believe, in a spirit of selfishness. She wants Rhett to stay because she wants Rhett, she says she loves him and she feels that that demands that he stays. He doesn't, and Scarlett deflates of her pride, but it is too late. Alexandra Ripley's sequel, Scarlett, obviously disagrees with me as well, but I think that book was poorly written and could not compare to the original in any way. Rhett is tired of Scarlett in the end, while Scarlett is just getting over being tired of Rhett at the end of the book. This signifies that they will never be in sync, no matter how much love they profess for one another, it will always be too late or too early. However, I concur that they are the BEST onscreen couple, best fictional couple, best book couple, best couple, best couple, best couple, BEST COUPLE EVER. They are my One True Pairing (OTP, lol). So that's my opinion. They're not reuniting, although I wish that they had, but I can't see that being in their future either.

@jackprescott9652 Жыл бұрын
Correct. By the end of the film is obvious that Rhett understood what Ashley Wilkes knew all along, Scarlett was no wife material. And Rhett hates himself for gambling everything he had for a bi...tch like Scarlett, and a man like him would never fall in that trap again. Besides, we can see that Rhett said "frankly my dear i don´t give a damn" with hate, so he is leaving for good.

A Favorite movie 🎬 I asked My Mom one day what was her favorite movie..ans she said "Gone With The Wind". Lately I've been asking her what's her favorite this and that. It's interesting how "Time" leads to greater appreciation for what we have and how fearing that loss can move us past bad feelings. We've always had a love & hate relationship sadly, I've accepted it won't change. She's old and too stubborn to change..And I've tried to bring more love into our relationship but it's been a battle I could mever win. So it's enjoying the good times, and surviving the bad. It's always been difficult for me to pick favorites when it comes to movies and songs, but I think "Gone With The Wind" is also my favorite. I guess "like Mother like Daughter" we've found some common ground with our love...for movies, especially old Hollywood ones. After she's gone I will remember those moments we shared. ☺️ I love the theme to this movie, it reminds me of "Pride & Prejudice" not as innocent and way more passionate. Rhett Butler with his Icy Soul that wouldn't fully melt and Scarlett O'Hara with her Fiery Spirit that couldn't be completely tamed. They were their greatest strengths and biggest weaknesses. They were as Fire 🔥 & Ice 🧊. With a raging war around them and a battle within them burning at their cores. It was a will to survive and a heart to surrender and a pure test if love trully conquers all in the End!? The author may have ended the book with a slamming of a door, but I believe their story would go on and be left to the open door 🚪 of our own minds. We can choose what happened after and write ✍️ our own ending because "Tomorrow is Another Day" while were in the Present. 🎁🎬 📖💖

Read this novel 5x while in high school. For some reason my family thought it was weird for me to do so and would take the book and hide it from me😕. I was spellbound by the great storytelling and the love/hate relationship of the two principal actors. Unfortunately the story painted a false picture of happy slaves in the south for that reason Blacks objected to the narrative protraying slavery as such. I simply Loved the story in and of itself! so always wanted to visit the GWTW museum in Atlanta. Finally did a few years ago and surprise! I was the only Black person there...😏

while there's no such thing as happy slavery, it was different for everyone, not every master was cruel and not every slave had a terrible life, some were content with their lives, which doesn't justify or legitimize slavery as an institution.

Well you are very right about the overly happy way that they portrayed slaves in the South. But that was the genius of the book/movie. It was meant to look at the Southeners (their lives and slavery) through their eyes. For them they thought that they were amazing to their slaves, the best masters ever. That is why slavery was portrayed as roses and rainbows. Their cause was see and noble and good while Sherman and the North was see as evil and wicked.
