I would say this video focus more on medium to high end travelers. $250 dollars for one hotel is crazy. I’ve just returned and 16 nights across the country cost me a total of £310. For 3/4* hotels. Nearly the same as one night in the hotel these guys stayed. Hospitality is essential in the Vietnamese culture, you don’t need to be excessive with hotels.

Well done 👍🏼 very thorough and honest video. I was in Vietnam back in 2008 for one month and traveled all over north to south also visiting Phou Quoc island before it had the international airport and wow it was amazing back then hardly any hotels. It looks like much has changed. My husband and I are traveling for 3 months in Vietnam this coming March and I’m excited to show him one of my favorite countries. This video helped him understand and know what to expect. Thank you!!❤

noooo i spent a month in Vietnam and Da Lat was one of my top 3 places... so sad you didn't love it. although i guess i had a different experience than most as we took a motorbike and scootered around the countryside of Da Lat which is really beautiful with green fields, and flowers and waterfalls and mountains and scenic view points and temples. The crazy house in the town was so cool, fulfilled my fantasy dream....there's tea plantations nearby too and lots of themed pretty places...there's even an alpine coaster which was super fun and a cable car above large pine forests....there's this sculpture park place....i could of spent a whole week there nooo aw sad to hear. But this video was awesome, lots of great tips and tricks.

I spent a month in Vietnam in 2011 and really loved it. I'm shocked to see how Phu Quoc is now as it was really underdeveloped when I went and was a really authentic experience. Everyone please heed their warnings about the motorbike bandits. I had my camera snatched out of my hands outside the Ben Thanh market in Saigon. Luckily I had downloaded all my pics a short time before it happened, so while I didn't lose everything, it did put a real damper on the end of my trip. That said, I never felt unsafe and the people were lovely. Just watch out for some petty theft, but that exists everywhere in the world.

First of all, that was a lot of great info. I'm from Canada and havent traveled outside of it. I'm middle aged now, so im intimidated, especially because I'd like to travel solo. This video made me feel more anxious about it and overwhelmed. Any suggestions? Vietnam was at the top of the list, because im intrigued by Asian culture, although a have not much experience with other cultures.
@itskellym8 ай бұрын
I suggest you do your first solo travels in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai). Things are much easier there. I'm traveling solo now and am currently in Vietnam.
@RhettandClaire8 ай бұрын
Have you considered Bali in Indonesia? It’s a much easier place to travel to as a solo traveler. So is Thailand. Vietnam is a lot harder because there’s more of a language barrier and everything is so foreign. With that being said though, lots of solo travelers travel there and they do just fine!😊

Hi Rhett and Claire! Glad I stumbled upon your channel. My son and I are about to head off on a South East Asian adventure. We were planning on starting in Thailand but not so sure anymore (scammy, too touristy, and box jellyfish 😳). We're considering Vietnam instead. Our duration in each destination will depend on whether we like it there. For this reason, booking a return flight is hard as we don't know where we'll be in the end. Same applies to accommodation. Do you think we'll have any issues if we booked a one way flight with accommodation only for the first few nights? Can we "wing it" from there or is it an absolute must to plan every step of the journey? Would really appreciate your advice. From 2 🇿🇦's 😊 - oh, and we're vegan 🫣 Are we going to starve? 😂
@RhettandClaire2 ай бұрын
Hey guys! Vietnam is probably the best country in the world to just “wing”😁🙌🏻. It’s super affordable and lots of different options. We’ve only ever booked hotels and airbnbs a few days before 😁🙌🏻. As for Thailand, it’s slightly harder to do that - you’ll definitely be paying a lot more for accommodation. Overall, Northern Vietnam is a smart move😁. We’ve got Vegan friends that live permanently in Vietnam and they don’t starve, lots of rice options! Spring rolls etc😁🙌🏻

Great video guys! Thank you for the ton of useful information! We will be coming from South Africa and going to Ho Chi Minh City in December. Do you recommend buying a SIM card at the airport and using Grab to get to the hotel or should we just organise a transfer with the hotel (they charge 650000 VND which sounds like a lot)?
@VuLe-ck7fs10 ай бұрын
You should buy Sim card at the airport, its not much expensive than outside. Then, you book the grab to the city around 6 or 7 usd. Get outside, across the internal street 1 minute, on your left side is grab station. Easy right?
