Lombok definitely has the most beautiful beaches but unfortunately they are not maintained. Maybe that's a result of the pandemic, tell us your thoughts in the comments below👇

No, but not because of the pandemic or tourists. On the whole most tourists already have the mindset not to toss rubbish everywhere. I have been waiting for years for the Indonesian government to have a big clean up campaign for the nation and create a few rules about tossing rubbish everywhere. I am beginning to think it will never happen.

Compared to Kuta and Seminyak Beach in Bali Lombok is “clean”. You should definitely check out the untouched beauty of South Lombok towards Sekotong! Its just breathtaking starting from Selong Belanak Beach
@katwind6234 Жыл бұрын
If you've been to Kuta, you haven't really been to Lombok. You also cannot compare the Kuta prices with Bali and say Lombok is expensive. Get more off grid towards the east and you'll experience the real Lombok. I personally liked Lombok way more than over crowded Bali, but, I deliberately did not stay in Kuta, but Selong Belanak. It seems like you did not inform yourselves very much before going to Lombok and that you did not realize what it means, when people say that Lombok is like Bali 30 years ago. This is exactly what you experienced. The infrastructure is still very rural and local, accomodation and transportation needs to be planned and the drive further to the east is definitely worth it. Also WiFi is not everywhere- which is what the world was like 30 years ago. Surprise!!! It's actually something I enjoyed very much. Maybe you give Lombok another chance and then really explore the beauty of it. But if you do, please just enjoy the island and don't bring the typical digital nomad mindset of "I need comfy chairs, wifi everywhere, hot water and western coffee and I prefer to eat burger and fries," with you. That's what already destroyed Bali, so you can have and enjoy this lifestyle there. Please keep Lombok to the friends of nature and LOCAL authentic experiences. Enjoy some Lombok coffee, some of the best tides in the world and INDONESIAN food!!! And do yourself a favor and leave the camera off. Just be in the moment for once and actually enjoy the beauty around you. Oh and btw- most of the trash you complain about comes from Bali ;-)

I think whether you like Lombok more than Bali is very subjective. I'd say that if you're a person who likes very tourist-dense areas that's always very lively then you'd likely prefer Bali. However, if you're more into more quiet and chilled area, whilst still having a fair amount of tourists but not to the point where it may be a bit over the top, then I think you'll find yourself enjoying Lombok more.

Hello fellow South Africans! We were in Lombok at the same time. We spent the rainy days on Gili Meno (stayed Meno dream resort). And the time in interior in tetebatu at a home stay, amazing hosts (bungalow home stay) and at the coast Selong belanak (especially the beach that you have to clamber over rocks to get to, so it was super private (splurged here, staying at Sempiak villas). We just wanted to chill and didn’t want traffic with our limited time on vacay (1 week), and headed back to our hectic city lives. So we had a good vacation. Fortunately. I’ve lived and worked remotely from various parts of Thailand. Thailand is definitely cheaper, with much more delicious food, but here surfing was possible, fewer foreigners, locals had Dutch names like back home and were super friendly just like Cape Tonians!

Thank you for visiting us. Yes, we are struggling with the "clean up" issue. Our culture was not far enough from Balinese but their efforts to "protect" their island, because tourism is where their main source of income, was still far ahead of us. Lombok people live a relaxed life. Most of them don't have a long term goal. They live as they are today. Well if you know what I mean. And our government's neglect has a hand in it. That's why Senggigi is like a dead zone during the day. So yeah.. But we keep moving and keep trying. Trying to keep our lil' island.

Was in Lombok earlier this year. I have friends who live there - and on Gili Meno - so some of the time it was free accommodation for me. Bali has thousands of homestays / hostels / hotels - everyone is trying to undercut eachother to get tourist business so can be v. cheap in Bali. Lombok is a different story. Less crowded but less accommodation and less competition between businesses. I too was surprised that places were - often more expensive than Bali. The thing is they really need to sort out the plastic problem there - Need proper waste management. When it rains plastic gets washed into the rivers and then into the sea. They do have beach cleans there - but there is just so much plastic - I hope Lombok doesn't end up as crowded as Bali and I hope they can sort out the problem with the beaches which are (potentially - and once were) some of the most beautiful in the world.

Why is the beach entrance ticket more expensive than Bali? Maybe it's because Bali is always crowded, whereas in Lombok it's rare for people to come there
@RhettandClaire Жыл бұрын
Maybe, but then they're making more money to maintain the beach for future guests. But they're not doing that therefore not many people visit the beaches.

Bali had more cliff and dark sand gravel type beach, the entrance to the beach is free cause most of them used as local worship temple or religious activity. Not so with Lombok who are more Islamic type island, they had to develop beach just for tourism and that take the cost up and might be the reason there's many trash material seeing in tourism place. If you're in Lombok I suggest to explore outside main beach like going far to the west or east, they had many undeveloped soft white sand beach without cliff or big wave, they event had pink sand type of beach in the east, but the access is not easy, it took me extra effort, but it's really more beautiful compare to the Bali.

Good video. I am Indonesian and you are right Lombok is amazingly beautiful but the mindset of the people is not really (western) tourist minded. Aside from the garbage, it quite often happens where western foreigners will be looked down on or ogled if they drive on the motorbike in their bikini. Yes, some people will say "well respect the culture" and I say, yes tourists will respect the culture by STAYING AWAY and going to Bali. Right now, sadly there is a common joke in Lombok where they say NTB means Nunggu Tamu Bali .... (NTB is the acronym for East Nusa Tenggara region but the same three letters in Indonesian can mean "Awaiting Guests from Bali".). But then again Western Tourists aren't the only target, they are also thinking about making Lombok the hotspot for tourists from the Middle East.

These days, when I go to Asia to swim and snorkel I only go to the Philippines as there is very little or no rubbish in the water. When I was a child living in Asia, some 40 years ago there were many prestine beaches and waterways but this is o longer the case. Moreover the beaches that are reasonably clean have lots of tourists. The Philippines seems now to be the only country left in Asia that is worth going to for marine activities.

Thank you for your honest opinion about our island especially about the rubbish which some youtubers fail to point out in ther videos, most influencer always hide this truth which made the littering issue go unnoticed by our local government.

Malu sebenarnya, pdhl bagi yg beragama Islam harusnya sadar bahwa kebersihan sebagian dari Iman. Tapi pada kenyataannya tidak memiliki akan kesadaran tersebut.
