Sometimes the hottest toys of the year can make people act insane. Parents try their best to get their children what they want. Unfortunately, it can go a little too far at times. In this video we will have a look back some of the toys people fought over!

I went to half a dozen stores looking for a Tickle Me Elmo for my niece. Couldn't wait to see the joy on her face when he giggled. She cried and never played with him🤦‍♀️

I was working in retail that year and I worked in the layaway department. Lots of people had Tickle Me Elmo on layaway. In the back, the layaway items were wrapped in brown paper, labeled, and on movable shelves that would move with the touch of a button. This way we could easily get to the shelves of layaway items as customers picked them up, and to put layaway items on the shelves. There were several aisles of moveable shelves in the back. Anyway, whenever we would move the shelves with the touch of the button we would hear a bunch of giggling, because the Elmo's were on "demo mode." 😂😂

@@cj57 Your story made me laugh too. I was going to ask you if she played with the box that he came in? Sometimes little kids would rather play with the box than the actual toy!! 😆

In the 1970's my favorite toys to receive were Peanuts Gang toys. My sister & I would get so excited when we got the Snoopy Snowcone Machine, The Snoopy & Woodstock Stuffed Animals, Peanuts Colorforms Playsets and Snoopy's Flying Doghouse. We loved everything Snoopy and The Peanuts.

In the fall of 1983, I happened to Cabbage Patch dolls in a store. I thought my daughter, who was six at the time, would like it for Christmas and I bought it for her. Imagine my delight when the Christmas shopping season started and people were fighting over them. My daughter really liked the doll, too.

I will never understand why people sleep outside waiting for a toy or specific item. It's idiotic. People are rude, pushing people down and fighting others for a toy. Nope. Ridiculous. How does that say Christmas spirit? Thank you my friend. I always appreciate you and your uploads. 😊

I had a cabbage patch doll when I was a baby. My mother must have had someone she knew get it for her, she isn't the type of person to wade through a crowd of hostile shoppers just to get a doll. She told me how she gave Black Friday a try once and only once. Getting beat up and trampled over garbage doesn't make any sense. My grandmother also had a Furby but she got hers' from a yard sale after they lost their popularity. My older brother's oldest daughter also had a few of the ZhuZhu pets when she was younger, those were neat. Him and his wife worked at the local Target at the time so they knew about things that were going to be popular for the holiday season. So they were able to buy a few in advance before the holidays to avoid the rush of crazy shoppers.

Nothing that's marketed to collect will hold value in the future. If an item is hot that's its peak value.

It's funny that you started out with Mr Potato Head and mentioned "fighting" because when my brother and I were little he got a Potato Head for Christmas and I got a Katie Carrot - one of the other vegetable friends! I guess my mom knew what the outcome would have been if we got the same version and was insightful in more ways than one! Haha!

The same year Tickle Me Elmo came out (1996), the Nintendo 64 was also released and was well sought after as well. I was already 19, but I had a 6 year old brother. I got one at the mall for him and had no less than three different people offering me more than I paid for it on the way out!

I loved my rocking horse and Silly Putty. My brother had a plastic cowboy and indian fort I took over. Also way back I had a popper with plastic cups on a pole that when you pushed a lever they popped off. I try searching for these 2 things every once in a while but no luck.
