Dad is super protective of his little girl. I don't think she could love anyone anymore than you. It could match it but that will be the beauty of allowing her to love and receive love. You hear a lot of children say that they have no animosity towards their birth parents because they had a good upbringing with their adoptive parents. Just allow tyanna to love her parents without any guilt. She is blessed to have such loving parents.

This is my first time watching this family. I am usually wary of transracial adoption because they raise black children with white families and totally ignore their culture. The fact that they are so open about Tyanna being a part of her family and seeing Black people around her is beautiful.

Ancestry genetic testing could possibly give you information. We found a 1st cousin we didn’t know. He was on to try to find information about his father. He was told a man was his father, but he didn’t believe it. So, in his 50’s he got on Ancestry. He allowed his picture to be on. What was crazy, he looks just like my father, not much like my uncles. Had the other uncles kids test, and then we found his father, who passed away decades prior. But, he’s become the closest to my sister. It’s very sweet.

I was resentful at the time, but as the years passed I have thanked Mom a thousand times over. Speaking from experience, finding out about my birth family had no impact on the relationship/bond I had developed with my adopted family. Prayerfully, Tyanna won't ever have to endure some of the misery that I endured when my bio mom began competing for my attention/time (in my late teen early adulthood life). She wanted me to call her mom and call my adopted mom by her first name, she wanted me to visit her first on Mother's Day, those types of things. She began making me feel like I was betraying her and told me that in so many words. I never told my adopted family, but I was a nervous wreck during that time of my life. I pray that Tyanna never have to deal with anything similar from any member of her bio side of the family. I beg of you to keep the lines of communication open with her especially during her teen years. I kept it all in to avoid hurting my adopted mom, but it reeked havoc on me mentally, emotionally, and physically. She then gave me the ultimatum (while in tears) to make a choice because she was tired of sharing me. I never verbally responded to her; but I did begin to emotionally and physically pull away - it was too traumatic for me. The timing of your video is perfect. I shed many tears yesterday (8/13) when one of my bio sisters drove in from out of state and we were able to spend time together. Sorry for rambling. I said all that to say that the bond and love that Tyanna has developed with you guys is unbreakable. I do have a tugging in my heart to spend time with my bio mom and get to know her but there is absolutely nothing in the world that she can say or do that would ever make me doubt/guess/challenge the love in regard to my family that loved, nurtured, and raised me. Never fear being replaced. Even if she spends time with them, you will always be in her heart and on her mind. You can't replace real love; at least that's how it was for me. I've never watched your videos with dry eyes because I see Tyanna in me. If you are ever touring the OKC area, let me know. I'd love to extend a warm embrace to each of you. You two will never know the magnitude of your life decision to open your heart and home to this little angel.

My friends were adoptive parents and raised a child until 14 when the birth mom came into to picture and created such havoc. The family ended up being ripped apart because of the tug of war and lack of boundaries that enticed the adopted child to want to live with birth mom. Eventually the child refused to go home to adopted parents. It’s important to set boundaries, communicate with all parties, and importantly prioritize the child talk to the child AND no sleep overs. No alone time anywhere. Maybe when she’s 18 she can do whatever but not until then

The thing I like about this is that Tyanna can see that she doesn't look like you two and would have likely had questions at some point. The realization of being adopted hits hard for many people who have been in that position. It can cause so much disruption and downtime in a person's life. Reconnecting with her biological relatives helps to fill in those gaps before she even has the chance to feel a void or have questions. This is a beautiful thing that you have done for this beautiful child. ❤

are you adopted? Are you talking for everyone who’s adopted right now? 😂 Some ppl feel a void even when they’re not adopted unfortunately, and some adopted ppl never do. I think that’s what adopted ppl should be more talkative about, what some of them feel is pressure from the outer world ( who should mind its own business) to meet with birth parents thinking this is the key to happiness. But pressure doesn’t equal real feelings. I know for a fact adopted ppl who are actually happy in their adoptive family feel the need to be apologetic for not wanting any kind of bond with birth parents. Please if you want a proof try and say to common ppl that biology DNA and bodily fluids don’t make bonds, love do. And see the reaction of common ppl.

I have so much I want to comment on regarding this phenomenal mom and dad. I'm commenting at a later time when I've gathered my thoughts and processed my emotions. Thank you for your informative videos and the most beautiful loving parents any child would hope to have. I truly have so much love for you all, my heart is full!

I follow this family's vlogs. I am a black woman and was immediately attracted to the pure, absolute, and true love these 2 parents have for their daughter, Tayanna. I'm not adopted, but due to family secrets and refusal for family to disclose and be honest, I have always had a void due to unanswered questions about my identify and father. I don't even ask anymore because I don't want to hurt anyone or for me to get hurt. These parents always have Tayanna's best interest in their forethoughts. I sit, watch their vlogs, and bawl ugly tears whenever I see this beautiful loving family. This little girl is so blessed to have you. May God continue to bless you guys. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

I love dad's transparency in his emotions especially about staying overnight. I am the same way with my son. That's a normal parent emotion and response.
@SheilaHezekiah5 ай бұрын
You all are such a blessing to Tyanna and her mom. Please don’t feel bad about not allowing her to sleep over at such an early age. You are her parents, her advocates, her protectors. I didn’t allow my kids to stay overnight with anyone besides my parents until around 9 or 10. This is an age where you know they understand the rules. They won’t be shy to tell you if something happens. I never made sleep overs a habit and my kids still enjoyed their childhood. I didn’t want to be in a situation where I couldn’t sleep because I was worried about them. So sleep overs were only 2-3 times a year. Too much happens at night. You have to be specific and also know who the biological mom is dating, as well as if he is going to be over when she does sleep over. Although I am a single black female, my kids were not allowed to stay over with other single parents. I felt better just knowing who was going to be there. My daughter is an adult now and she appreciates that. I understand that we’re speaking of her biological mom but she should understand. I like the idea of you all having a girls’ sleep over to include the adoptive mom and the biological mom with cousins. That will allow everyone to get to know each other but that should not happen too early either. You all will have different rules in your own household so don’t allow Tyanna to be confused on what she can and cannot do. It’s for the little girl’s sake and your sanity. You can still allow her culture in as you have already shown. So be mindful of what part you allow other people to play in her life, as you have in the past. Don’t ever put her biological mom’s feelings before Tyanna’s safety. I am quite sure that her biological mom loves her but remember safety and sanity first. This is just my opinion. Again, you all are a blessing and this little girl is a blessed. I like the fact that you all are not reporting why her dad is not in her life. The world doesn’t have to know all of her business. Keep some things to yourself.

I love this so much as an adoptee by a single white mother. My mom adopted 6 children on her own and we are all black! The oldest of our sibling group is my biological sister, and we are the only ones out of the siblings' group whose open adoption continues to be a positive experience. I am the youngest of my biological siblings (we are all girls) and my sister who was adopted before me is the second youngest. Our bio mom was unable to be the mother we needed, so we were all placed with family members or, like me and my sister, in foster care to be adopted. Between the two of us, I have more of a bond with my bio family than my older sister does, while she does with our adopted family as she was placed with our mom to be adopted right from birth but our bio mom was given a second chance with me. And when it comes to my bio mom it can be emotionally draining, her decisions as a parent will continuously affect my mental health. Growing up we always saw our bio family, but only when our granny, auntie, and/or eldest sister who was being raised by our granny were involved. We had sleepovers only at grannys and our bio mom was allowed to take us shopping or to the movies on her own when we got older and could express our feelings on the matter. My bio mom and mom had a friendship more so as we aged. Our mom made sure the rules she had in our everyday life were implemented when we were with them too. Unfortunately when it came to my other adopted siblings reconnecting with their biological families specifically with the mothers had the worst outcome there could be in that type of situation. But my mom always gave us the choice, especially as we grew into teens. and even though my mom made sure we had cultural connections and black people in our everyday lives, that difference between our black friends/peers, when it came to how we were being raised (white vs black parents), arrived at the forefront and we honestly at least in from my perspective, wanted to have that experience just to join in and joke around in those conversations among our black friends. But both my moms loved each other, if only because of what each did when it came to me ( and my sister) I always proudly said I have two moms but hated when other kids asked do you know your "real" mom after finding out I was adopted so I learned what an open adoption was at a young age just to explain. I share my story because this hit close to home, my adopted mother recently passed on March 1st and I feel absolutely lost without her physically with me. And I'm working on trying to understand my bio mom as a person and her story because she will only ever be capable of being the mother she's been my entire life. I had an amazing mom and honestly view my bio mom as a bonus mom. I still call my bio mother, Ma but call her by her name to others even my siblings (bio and adopted) I am 28 and it still feels weird to call someone else who didn't raise me mom but that's another thing entirely. This might not mean much but as a black woman who was adopted as a child by an amazing loving caring white mom, I believe and see you guys are making hard decisions that will ultimately have up and downs no matter what but also doing something extraordinary for your sweet girl. Thank you.

I'm putting all the adoption, black/white issues to the side for the moment and just focusing on the woman who raised you that you call mom. I'm 40 and also have an amazing, wonderful mother. I can't imagine losing my mom, even at my age. I would be completely lost and alone without her. To lose your mom at such a young age is heartbreaking. You've obviously been through a ton in your young life and to have the one solid foundation gone now... I can't imagine. I'm so sorry. That part of Your comment really got me bc my mother is getting on in age and even though I'm 40 and should have everything together yada yada, and which I do 98% of the time, I honestly don't know how I would go on without her.
