Finally!! A spinner!! I will never be able to travel to Rhinebeck, but years ago i always went to the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival for fleece--and i still have my 1980's Traveller Spinning wheel. I live in the so-called country now (moved from the D.C area to the Shenandoah Valley) and haven't been able to find a shepherd offering handspinning fleeces for sale. You're lucky to live in New York!!!!

First time watching your channel - what a pleasure it's been. Tastefully covered the debacle that was W&F (I wasn't there, but it needs to be addressed, and wrongs righted) and I cried happy tears watching the all the joy you shared. And those leaping critters!! Made my day. Thank you, and I'll be keeping up with you going forward. I love my pups like my kids! They keep me company while I knit. I was able to knit 22 rows of a 72 count stitch sock while I followed along with your vlog. I was very happy to meet and hug you at Rhinebeck. It was my first time there, and I was like a kid in a candy store. I am very very new to spinning, and I credit my enabler - my daughter who came with me - and you for inspiring me to get started. We drove all the way from Montreal and it was a great experience to get to see all of the fleeces. My daughter bought a black Shetland lamb raw fleece and we also bought some clean fleeces, one crossbreed and one Bond fleece that we are splitting. I also bought an Eel Wheel 6 e-spinner, which I have been having a lot of fun with since I got back. There were so many other things I wanted to buy, but the e-spinner blew my allowance (only 800 CAD to be duty-free)... Which is both a curse and a blessing, since I currently have limited storage space for fleeces. Next year, I will fill the car with spindles, fleeces and hand-dyed fibers to spin 😊
@stitchesandstarlight Жыл бұрын
I’m so glad you had a good experience and you snagged an espinner! The EEW6 is a great spinner and I use mine all the time so I hope you love yours as much as I love mine. Thanks so much for saying hi and for the super squishy hug!

this is the only Rhinebeck video so far that has given me FOMO 🙂--what a wonderful place you-all were staying in!. i don't like big crowds; some of my local [way the hell north in NYS] knitter friends & i have gone a few times to the Adk Wool & Craft show in Greenwich [Washington Co fairgrounds] and loved it--smaller than NYS S & W, lots of sock yarn, some indie dyers, lots of bags/tchochke, and even a few distillers if you like that sort of thing [we do]. it's usually the last weekend of Sept. ...your yellow swtr looks great walking around! ...thx for explaining--i wondered why you had whipped cream on your french fries :-))) .

@stitchesandstarlight Жыл бұрын
I think NYS Sheep and Wool proper is pretty accessible for folks with mobility impairments and there are plenty of places to duck into if you need a moment to take a breather and escape the crowds and overstimulation. The smaller satellite events are hard to vouch for but I think Rhinebeck proper could be a place to start if you can get to it! Also, hats are my favorite thing and I have a million of them for a reason 😎😎😎
