In this tutorial, I'll show you how to use SplitEdge and BlendSrf to close a surface when the 'Cap' command errors with 'Unable to cap one object. The openings did not have closed, planar loops of edges.'

when i use that option and try to apply fillet or blend edges always give me an error.
@EricM81
@EricM81 3 жыл бұрын
FilletEdge breaks a lot. Pipe the end you want to fillet, trim back each surface, and then run a blend between them.

I'm not a grasshopper expert, but it should be the same process. Discourse.McNeel.com has a grasshopper forum that is very active. Someone will help you if you ask there.

i get a curved line between the points from splitedge, not a straight line like in the video.
@EricM81
@EricM81 3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure what you mean by a straight line (there isn't one in the video). The edge that gets split is curved in 3 dimensions. If it were planar (only curved in two dimensions), then we could simply _Cap it without needing to split the edge and blend between them.

Nice, thanks! Will this work on asymmetrical edge curves?
@EricM81
@EricM81 8 жыл бұрын
+Roman Rabinovich It will, just try to hit the midpoint when you split the edge. Equal lengths is usually best.

Eric, I know this is off topic, but I'm considering buying the Solus. Do you have any advice, for or against such a purchase? I plan to use if for myself and a few other small jewellers I work with. I don't have any exp with CAM, but I studied rhino/matrix and feel comfortable with them. Thanks again.

My edge is made out of 2 curves and 2 lines :_( and the splitedge command only grabs one of the 4 sides of the edge EDIT: welp I just solved it by lofting between the curved sides haha
@EricM81

If you have 4 sides you can run surface from edge curves
