Hey Eric! Have you ever tried working on a signet ring with proper control on both front and side view? For this video your control is only on the side view(ring curve's that you have mirrored) but not the front view. Some signet ring requires control on both sides.

It has been years since I've done it that way. Let me see about putting together an updated video next week

I did a first run of using a new template file for making signets with full control today: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opmVhKZthLZrY9U I might do a more polished video after I play with it a bit more. This is still a work in progress type thing.

Great! How do you finish the inside? I imagine it's not just a sweep2 or blendEdge then a boolean difference to hollow out. What's the right way to do it?

use "shell" command

A question that follows where you left off: What would you do to make it a solid? I followed your example in this video and ended up with a somewhat complex shape that seems to confuse the Offset Surface tool.
@EricM818 жыл бұрын
I never have much luck with OffsetSrf on a polysrf. Usually I offset each srf individually and then play it by ear. The surfaces underneath stones are most critical (depth can't be too shallow) so I lock it in place and BlendSrf, MatchSrf, and point edit my way to making a hollow. I'll add 'Hollowing A Ring" to my tutorial todo list.

Long ago you I asked you on how you arranged your UI for rhino. I needed again and went back to your site but it wasn't there. Is there anyway you can send me your UI? Thanks

These are my current settings in the V7 WIP. Not sure if they will work in V6 or V5 though. drive.google.com/file/d/1FrAQKezAmlbOEL7N5i6QMH32-ygW9A1-/view?usp=sharing

I have no idea what plugin I was playing with back then. I obviously didn't like it enough to keep around. I've used Amradillo for paneling and stone layouts for about 6 years now.
