I like a lot of you guys have been listening to a lot of music during 2020 lockdown my favorite era is 1980's and this is a favorite song of mine brings a tear to my eyes every time i play it. (Self Control, Solitaire, Forever Young, Moonlight on Water and Touch also high on my list of favorites!) I've had a crush on Laura ever since i was about 13 (in 1983!) and truth be known it never went away! I'll always remember her. This song has really touched me over the years and her music has helped me at times when i thought I'd loose my own Self Control a time or two. Laura i wish i had the chance to know you, You touched many people with your music over the years. I cried my eyes out the day i heard a radio station play Gloria and announced your passing in 2004 i couldn't believe what i heard....(I thought to pass at age 47 was far too young but later found out it was 52 still far too young) We lost a great passionate voice that day and a real stunning woman, A true one of a kind. You remain Forever Young in my heart. RIP

She played Sun City, South Africa, a whites only resort, in the middle of the worldwide cultural boycott of the apartheid regime in South Africa. I think this is Laura's best video although "Self Control" was pretty outstanding. It's a shame that the song never charted. It was my favorite song on "Touch" as soon as I purchased the album. "Touch" is a fan favorite and an excellent album. It took Laura into the realm of Adult Contemporary and more or less out of the main stream charts. Ironically, "Power of Love" off the album was her last Top 40 hit even though it never had a video. A mistake in this heavy MTV/video influenced period.
@sebasvinylclub2 жыл бұрын
I believe if “Power Of Love” would’ve had a video, it could’ve been easily a top ten… sadly Atlantic had their mind somewhere else… “Shattered Glass” and this song could’ve easily been hits with the right promo… sadly, they were horrible at promotion… so many artists from that same period… Stacey Q, Nu Shooz, Regina and many many others…
