i worked at The Record Plant LA when they recorded Beside Ourselves. Sometime late in '91. The first thing Sebastian said when he walked in the door was, "Where's the buds"? Snake was the only artist to ever give me a tip for getting his food. We did Use your Illusion that same year it was vas a frightening, scary blast. Always saw Slash. He came back to do Blackand White....Those were crazy times. I think everyone here misses them. Thought it would last forever...

Rachel Bolan Interview on May 24, 2011. The question asked was "Is Quicksand Jesus about religious tension or bouts with faith?" Bolan answered: You pretty much hit the nail on the head. I grew up in a Catholic family and so did Snake. You know that good old fashioned Catholic guilt. It’s just about keeping your beliefs during good times and bad times. It’s so easy to not be spiritual when things are going really good and then when they go bad you start relying on whatever god you pray to to get you out of it. It’s kind of saying that whatever it is you believe in, you should probably put in 100% all the time. We started writing it and war broke out in the middle east. The lyrics just started pouring out but we did not have a title for it. Snake and I used to do a lot of dirt bike riding and we knew we wanted “Jesus” in the title but we could never really settle on anything. There was a busted Jesus in Snakes mom’s flower garden. The garden was there right before we took off to go riding on the trail and every time it rained the Jesus sank. We called it “Quicksand Jesus” and what we would do is touch it for luck and then we would take off. If someone would wreck we’d say, “You forgot to touch Quicksand Jesus didn’t you?” One day, we just looked at each other and said, “That’s it! That’s the song title!” That song was a labor of love. Snake and I never had such a tug of war on certain parts and elements of songs as much as we did with that one. That one took us a long time to write. It’s cool that’s your favorite song because that’s my favorite Skid Row song that we ever did. I’m proud of it and I’m so glad we still do that one.

Absolute classic. Right on the cusp of a big musical change, this is when hard rock attained perfection.

This is my song. I've been listening to it, over and over. I've loved Skid Row since they've came out. I wish I had a car and there wasn't so much snow outside. I'd go driving around.🤎

How can it be that this is already 30 years old? Damn I’m old... but this tune still rocks as hard as it did the first time I heard it. This album is a masterpiece.

I remember in high school everyone had the first record, even if you weren't into hard rock metal you still had it. Then when the second record came out that's all you saw and heard on radio and MTV. The Sebastian Bach era will always be stand the test of time.

When I was a young boy back then I simply didn’t care about Skid Row , I was more into Metallica, Testament, Slayer, Megadeth and other thrash metal bands. Thought that these guys where simply hard rock , but with time I came to learn that they played on a very thin line between that hard rock and heavy metal and yes , I now understand them and I apologize for my younger thoughts on them ! This turned out to be one of my favorite songs due to it’s very unique composition and song structure . Love it , and sometimes i play it on repeat just to hear Bach’s voice .

I swear to God it was the one guy that directed every rock band video from the late 80's until the late 90's into the early 00's. Black and white and little girls in white dresses. Every rock video.

Slave to the Grind is such a great record, and I'm not even much of a metal/"hair" metal fan. The rocking songs are super heavy and even punky at times, and the three ballads have really complex arrangements and are absolute vocal clinics.

Sab will always be one of THE best live performers, EVER! I was lucky enough to be a flight attendant when they appeared on the scene. I used my passes like crazy. Seeing them live never got old!
