I used to play the radio at night when I was sleeping. I also taught my dog, Punkin Terrier, to sing (howl) with me to this song. Whenever it came on at night she'd wake up and lick my face until I got up and sang it with her. She loved this song! Many years after the song came out, it came on the radio when I was sleeping and she remembered it. She woke me up and it was the last time we ever sang this song together. Good old Punkin.

I don't know is it because of the third week of this fucking social distancing and a bunch of beers I had to alleviate this... ...insanity... ...or is this the best comment ever!? Gotta do that as soon as this madness passes, and I'll do my best to have perfect hair. :-)

Mick Fleetwood on drums in this one! Love the solo. The bass. And of course Warrens delivery with the story. Hope you’re enjoying your sandwiches, big guy. We miss you.

Fleetwood played on the original recording but not on this video. In fact, none of the musicians (except Warren, of course) on the recording are in this video. RIP Warren, we need more like you.

I just love that so many of the comments here are about Zevon's clever lyrics, along with how he delivers them. So many comments reference "his hair was perfect," and even that spontaneous "nip" right afterwards. My favorite part, too. Zevon's vocal performance on this song is perfect. It goes to show that you don't need to be gifted with a stunning vocal range and pitch to be a great performer. He's having so much fun performing a song he wrote for fun, and being his charismatic self, and that's the real magic. He's competely at one with what he's doing.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame's lame ass response to Steve Miller, spoken like true posers... The Hall of Fame didn’t respond directly to Miller’s numerous criticisms but did issue a statement that said: “Rock ’n’ roll can ignite many opinions. It’s what makes it so great. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was honoured to induct Steve Miller.” On his tour bus recently, Miller was in an affable mood and said he hopes some positives will come out of all the commotion he stirred up. “I want to put pressure on them to do the right thing and make it a great institution,” the guitarist said. The people who run the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation “are living in a bubble in New York City. Step outside of it, and the Rock Hall of Fame is a beacon for music education,” Miller said. “There are people working there who do care about it, and realize it should be the centre of the universe when it comes to fighting for musicians’ rights, music education, musicians’ health care. “But right now, it’s a private little group in New York calling all the shots, guys who consider themselves the elite, experts of what is or is not important. They’re more worried about making a TV show [of the induction ceremony] than they are of taking care of the people they induct.”
