I know i may be looking for things that dont exist, but i thought Ron Silver’s character was a sweetheart, and Rom played it with a real thruline like the guy was Lgbtq or had some type of secret. He played a similar character that JM J bullock played in Too Close for Comfort, i think. On Rhoda, they were never able to bring him out of the closet, but they should have. A lot of his jokes were cringeworthy. He wore a skirt in a few episodes, tried to date both women but just ended up hanging out and even Ida accepted him and was loving. There was lots of subtext and re-watchability in that character and in Ron’s work on this show. He looked adorable too.

The writers killed the show after Joe (David Groh) left the series. It could have easily lasted another 3 seasons.

@@davidsanderson5918 I agree David Groh didn''t have a lot of chemistry with Valerie. A lot of her other dates on MTM did. I like this last season of Rhoda, unfortunately, this last season was also when MTM went into reruns. And you were left to compre MTM Rhoda with this Rhoda. Rhoda was much, much funnier zoftig.

In several episodes, there is a one and done date, and we never see the guy again I particularly liked the chemistry Rhoda had with Brenda's bank manager boss. Big mistake on the writers part. Also her work family was forgettable and her workplace was depressing

I disagree, the point of I Love Lucy was Ricky said the loving cup was better than her hats. Here, Rhoda wants to date a good looking guy and even when she gets her chance, something screws it up for her..

If we are being honest, Valerie Harper had great chemistry with eveyone, even Kenneth McMillan. He was great and gave the show two more seasons. This episode is funny even tho the actual soul had already been sucked out of this show by this point in the run.

I am utterly flummoxed as to who decided Benny belonged on this show. He's a dreadful actor and a boring character. Everyone else is charismatic and wonderful. Why would Brenda be with such a total loser? I have to fast forward through scenes with him, which means I haven't seen much of this season!
