They used bass as lead, lead as rythm, drums as vocals and vocals as rhythmic percussion stirred it all together and made some brilliant music.

Femmes were way ahead of their time. I love the the acoustics and real songs. Still one of my favorite albums since i really listened to it at least 30+ years ago. Dang that makes me feel old.

I can say one thing for this information age. It allows those of us who grew up in the 80's and 90's to reconnect with things that molded our lives during that time. Despite everything else that has and will happen, that has to be a very good thing, right?

I didn't have cable tv until I went to college in '95. This is my first time seeing this band. :) I danced to this song with my girlfriend while the seniors at my high school sang this song in unison. :) Good times. Now we have to contemplate mass extinction, etc. WTF? Do it all the time... JfromOH

Growing up in Michigan in the 80's and 90's. The Violent Femmes only were in one catagory, the music you listened to and liked if you wanted to date the hot girls....

What I love about the Violent Femmes is this feeling I get of teamwork. I don't think I can say that about many other bands. They have this way of looking at each other when their cue is coming up. I went to one of their concerts a long time ago and I remember them rolling out the xylophone.

I vaguely remember the Los Angeles Times music critics raving about this new band from Minnesota (!) but I didn't pay much attention at the time. Along comes my new friend, Theresa, who LOVES them and drags me, kicking & screaming, to a little venue in Long Beach CA, called Fender's Ballroom...and I was SOLD! Loved them ever since. Also, Theresa, if you read this, it would be cool to get in touch again.
