Rhonegletscher 2022 Ice Cave Furka Pass Switzerland 4K Video

At the Rhonegletscher on the Furka Pass in Switzerland, it was still possible to visit the ice cave in 2022. The path to the glacier cave leads through an impressive landscape of polished rocks and in the approx. 100m long ice cave it glows in magical shades of blue.
The Rohne glacier is just under eight kilometres long, has an average width of about two kilometres and covers an area of about 15 km².
In the 19th century, the glacier, which is the source of the Rhone, reached down to the valley floor before Gletsch and was a major tourist attraction.
Note: The glaciers in Switzerland have lost 6% of their volume in 2022 and it is questionable whether the ice cave will remain in place in the next few years.

However it's really sad to know, global warming has caused much harm to this glacier. Is that the UV absorbing blankets? And the Belvedere hotel looks remain closed? Hoi Dina! It's really amazing inside the ice cave and to know the ice is maybe thousand or more jears old! I think these blakets are sunlight reflecting and have to isolate the ice. Yes, the Belvedere Hotel is still closed. A few years ago they were open in the summer but it probably didn't pay off. I would love to stay in this Belle Epoque hotel one day.
