It's not quite on the level of Vlad or Soto, but Alfonso Soriano's 2006 was amazing. 46 homers, 41 steals, 135 OPS+, and moved from 2B where he was pretty bad to LF where he was pretty good. He somehow only finished 6th in NL MVP voting that year.

Jim Thome was underrated no doubt. However he didn’t even come close to being on this list for the Indians Albert Belle in 1995 by far was a superior season and was one of the greatest of all time 52 doubles 50 homers 126 RBIs with a .690 Slugging with 377 total bases and oh yeah in only a 144 game schedule. Not even debatable. After that it would probably be Manny Rameriez in 1999 with his 165 RBIs which has still yet to be touch and was the most by any player since the 1930s which would now be approaching 90 years.

Nah. I'd say trout's 10.5 war season where he didn't win mvp would be it. Ohtani's 2022 was insane. But 10.5 war is absurd.
@ru4034218 күн бұрын
@@TheBlackWaltz Ohtani's war was lower due to the position of DH. war is probably the least objective metric compared other aggregate stats like wrc+, ops+ etc.
@TheBlackWaltz18 күн бұрын
@ru40342 After seeing how he got 9 war as a dh this season. I think the war for dh is okay. It could use maybe a slightly smaller penalty. But it's not nearly as bad as I previously thought. Trout was insane in 2013. He had 10+ war with -1.2 defensive war. Ohtani had a -1.7 dwar due to being a dh this year. That's how nuts trout was in 2013. Even if you add in the half a war difference for the defense, Trout still had more war.
@superfactorial571718 күн бұрын
@@TheBlackWaltz id say positional adjustments for war still needs some update, but thats a different story. 2013 trout was just different because he was a monster on the basepaths as well. i believe before corbin caroll he had the best baserunnjng season by a rookie and it is still one of the best baserunning seasons in the modern era
