at 4:01 i have a question about the dotted eight and 16th. It sounds like you just gave it 1 beat but in theory it would be like hold 3 16ths and then a 16th right. i need some clarification on how it should sound.

It’s common. Most R&B/Rap songs are sitting in common time. 4/4. 4 beats per measure.
