Well yes and no, Vaporwave is just a sub genre of Plunderphonics which has existed for decades. But bands like Negativeland which existed at the bay are apart of the origin but people like Bill Buchanan existed before them. Plunderphonics didn't start in the bay but become a huge part of it.
