Punjabi Lehar is endeavoring to bridge a gap between the people of East and West Punjab, created by the partition of 1947. Most of the people have passed away with an unfulfilled ardent desire in their heart, to see their birth place and meet their childhood friends. Punjabi Lehar is attempting to fufil the desire of remaining partition era punjabis, who will be gone in the next five to seven years. My father was Tilakraj Vohra s/o Lala Gianshah Vohra, his got his school education from Govt H/S Bhera, topped in the District, then graduated and post graduated from Govt College, Lahore, joined service in PWD Lahore, after partition shifted to Shimla, retired from Haryana as Registrar, Balraj Sahni was his school mate,. college mate, he is the founder of Sargodha Society, Chandigarh, we alongwith many more are residing in Sargodha House Bldg Cooperative Society, Chandigarh. Fortunate, I was born approx 7 years after the partition. The story of partition is so painful. Many families on either side of the borders were devastated, people had to flee/leave their native places. It was a nightmare not worth repeating. Even today a handful of fanatics in both the countries are not ready to understand that humanism is above anything and everything. Partition was a reality, though very hard to understand the rationale. We as human beings belong to the same generation, we've the same milk of love running through our veins. My heart cries when I feel the pangs of separation from our Muslim, Hindu and Sikh brethren. Please ease the borders, make visa rules easier, stop hostility, restore the atmosphere of friendship and harmony, so that estranged brothers and sisters can meet each other. Resume rail,road and air services. Trade and business will benefit the people of both the countries. We can learn a lot from European Union.
