Kathleen Kennedy is not only tone deaf...she's self righteous, pig headed, smug and far too prideful to admit failure (thus the reason she's proceeding with business as usual). She figures if she proceeds with RUIN's trilogy...it's as if the backlash doesn't exist. The denial is strong with this one. Typical leftist SJW behavior. They're pros as ignoring reality. Thank God Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader is dead, that’s one SW character KK and RJ can’t fuck up. It’s a shame, but I now wish that Han Solo had died in Empire Strikes Back, and Luke Skywalker had died in Return of the Jedi when the Death Star Mk.II blew up. And that Leia Organa had become a Jedi after Luke’s death, and had died in the Force Awakens instead of Han Solo. Then only Chewbacca and the droids would be left of the original characters. Rey, being a Mary Sue, could have trained herself without Luke’s help, just by reading a book - after all, she’s a superwoman...

...the sequel trilogy to me is alot like Halo 4 and 5... 4 was pretty ok and set up many different paths leading to 5, up to where the latter shits itself. SW 7 was pretty solid and prepped us for a many of questions and paths into episode 8.... where well... we know how 8 turned out

glhf2 hell some ppl look at Andromeda as ep7.... Mass Effect stands apart for me, due to the fact that they were the first of their kind; where as Halo had legs (it's fans) to stand on from the previous games from Bungie. Once the formula of what we lived was stripped away, we started to see what the new handlers felt were needed in the fandom. The enemies were dumbed down versions of the ones we loved (covenant/empire)>(promethians/first order), our heroes who were established fully in the original are now shells of their selves (M.Chief/Luke Skywalker) in preparation for new lifeless characters (Locke/Rey). Mass Effect is a good example yeah... but to me it's like running your first big race for a while and before you're done, you trip on their own toes before the finish line.

James' YouNiverse the thing is how many franchises have been a big part of your child hood? For example, transformers, they were made to sell toys, but that made a cultural impact that's still going today. It depends on who's calling the shots. Now if they had someone who knew how to run a cinematic universe, we'd probably be seeing news about Colin Trevorow's episode IX that would've had Snoke, and Luke still alive. I don't think Disney is solely to blame. Yes putting Kathleen in such a high role, and hasn't worked on a cinematic universe, it's biting them in the ass. But given the right people, there is hope. Right now the anthology films seems to be the only highlight, and I hope Disney finally fire her, and let Rian Johnson go. I want to give him a chance with a three part story of his own, but given he literally threw out JJ Abrams' script outline for the trilogy in exchange for subverting expectations was the dumbest move on Lucasfilm's part. But I hope Disney fixes this franchise, and actually make a Star Wars movie the fans deserve.

I found out in the early hours of the release day that it was going to be messy. I was very sick and I knew that I was going to react violently to the movie and make myself even more ill. So am I sexist and oppressive because of my choice even though I am a woman who has always been a fan of Star Wars nonetheless? I also relate to Luke Skywalker and even Anakin in The Clone Wars series. That goes for every fandom I am in with a male lead. I didn't need a chick to feel better about myself because I don't have fragile femininity. I'm comfortable enough with myself to be able to set gender aside and relate to characters for being who they are, not what dangles between their legs.

We need to keep ringing/emailing/snail-mailing LFL and Disney to voice our concerns. I read a tweet yesterday, from someone who rang LFL to complain about TLJ. The secretary was very attentive and said that they'd received a lot of complaints. The secretary went on to say that there are even people who work at LFL, that did not like TLJ. We need to keep up the momentum and let our voices be heard. The most important thing to remember is to *be civil* and *be polite* to these people. We want them to take notice of us and hear us out. I am a hardcore Star Wars fan and have been for the last 41 years. I love *ALL* of Lucas' work, Rogue One and can tolerate TFA, but the idea of Johnson creating a brand new trilogy actually terrifies me. The man is not creative, nor is he a storyteller. To call him a butcher is an insult to one. This whole thing feels like a bad dream that I cannot wake from. Never thought this day would come, but here we are with a mediocre film and more to come from someone who is an amateur filmmaker. Sorry to insult amateur filmmakers.

The scariest part isn't the amateur part. It's the 'I'm intentionally trying to make this character not seem like a Star Wars character' irreverence that scares and outrages me. I tried to objectively listen to some chapter recaps of the TLJ novelization (heck no am I going to spend money on that!) and I'm still speechless at how much Disney has actually doubled down on disrespecting everything OT. Example: The Resistance did not want to even conduct a funeral for Han Solo...Leia did not want to go, Luke really was a rotten old cynic inside, Rey 'downloaded' her impossible force skills from seeing inside Snoke and Ren, ... and it goes on from there. This logic doesn't come from Star Wars fans. It smacks of someone (or 2 someones...) intentionally being as offensive as possible to long-term fans, and especially of fans of the EU. No one is so clueless to honestly think fans would embrace their childhood heroes being systematically torn apart. It's like watching reality TV...in a galaxy far, far away. We need to keep hitting up Disney in every way possible to show them the backlash is real and WHY there is backlash in the first place. But Nothing is as important as sending Disney the message of financial loss by boycotting their movies and merchandise. Letters/mail/videos/etc... isn't going to cut it until Disney sees Red (literally).

I personally just don't want Star Wars movies to become a common thing they are soooo special I don't want them to become just a paint by numbers cash grab. I don't hate the Last Jedi but I don't love it either I just don't mind it kind of I guess really I think I'm in denial about how much I can't stand the Last Jedi. I guess I just can't bring myself to admit that I detest something with the Star Wars name on it .... but really come on Rian does not get to have his creative fun and experiment with his style on Star Wars!! This is not a game it's a legacy these are legendary charactors you can't just do what you think would be the most unexpected and shocking to them ughhhh...... I just want the majesty of Star Wars to remain intact is that to much to ask?

Daydream Stargazer I know what you mean. Us SW fans have to stick together. When I saw The Last Jedi in theaters, it was... alright. I'll probably enjoy it more on a second viewing at some point, but I still other SW content like The Clone Wars, Rebels, The Force Unleashed, and the EU stories.

Yes I agree. We can only hope at this point that this movie becomes more tolerable with age I mean we're stuck with it now...... I assume the anger will lighten as time goes on but for sure it's just really painful and aggravating right now because it's still fresh in our minds all the better paths they could have taken with this just ugh...... Ahsoka Tano is one of my favorite characters in any movie or TV series ever created. And she's female last I checked. I like her so much via how great her character development has been to this date.(she's an ultimate badass at the end of season 4 rebels because we all know what she's been thru) The last Jedi is so bad only because Rey's Character development was completely ruined up to date. Finn's character development is still fine but really hasn't changed at all in 2 movies. Luke had great character development but too little too late. *shakes head* It's just unbelievable to think sexist has anything to do with this. The last jedi doesn't even feel like a star wars movie.... So they can say whatever they want. As the saying goes the cats outta the bag. If Johnson does this kinda crap again? We will destroy him further and Kennedy. I mean seriously....who the fuck cares about Rey? Nobody. And that's only due to bad writing.

Big fan of Ahsoka and Jen. Credible, well written characters. That's all it takes. Finn has been wasted. So many opportunities to explore the PTSD after effects of 12 years of stormtrooper training and missions. The chance to explore the relationship between Finn and Phasma. All pissed away. Old white guy. No problem with female characters who are not poorly written. No problem with non-white protagonists. Just don't attack and humiliate my heroes and try to replace them with poorly written dystopic crap.

Another aspect of the Last Jedi that is not up to scratch is the music. Every other episode has a signature piece of music. Some episodes have a few and the Empire Strikes back has many. What does the Last Jedi have? Even the Phantom Menace has Duel of the Fates and the Force Awakens has Rey’s Theme. Music is such an important part of Star Wars and it has now fallen on its arse.

Anakin Skywalker you can make a really good story without skywalkers in it. Light vs dark, on the other hand, is one of the main themes of star wars.

I agree with you. While yes you can easily make another story with light and dark the Skywalkers are the meat and potatoes of the series. Being without them sorta makes it lose it's sparkle. I mean the way I look at it when you're reading the Canon books and seeing the shows it's all because you're seeing what is happening while the Skywalkers are interacting with the world. You're watching because you're seeing a whole other side of their lives and the side that they fight for and how it will all tie in with their fate.

Anakin Skywalker After the Last Jedi, there's no one at all left. The rebellion was reduced to 8 or 10 people who escaped in the millenium falcon. So they have one ship and 10 people. And the people didn't even have guns or supplies or a suitcase or even a backpack. They escaped with the clothes they were wearing and that's it. Rian Johnson really painted himself in a corner. There is no resistance, no battle between good and evil, no nothing. Just a handful of people who turned tail and ran away.

I have a bad feeling about this. I see a time when LucasFilm is so messed up that it is no longer worth Disney keeping it. That is if more and more people start waking up to what a mess of a movie TLJ is. At least that is how I found TLJ when I saw it. I have to say I did give This "New" Cannon a shot; However I am done. I will spend my $ on other things and more important things. I do have some old EU stuff and will buy more of that. I heard that the "Old" Cannon was bad. But Sounds better then TLJ. Should enough people in years to come say F this. Lucasfilm may not be worth Disneys time or money to keep a losing company, But then again ... FYI I not a sexist , man baby or anything Disney/LF ect what say.. I just know SHIT when I see it. LOL I am not going buy TLJ this week when it come out on Blu-ray. nice stuff keep it up. Jeremy. I just don't understand how Luke became such a quitter. Vader had been with the darkside for like 20+ years with a spark of good in him. Luke fought to bring him back. As soon as Kylo had a spark of dark side... KILL HIM, there is no other way. I'm curious how badly they will bastardize yoda in the next one. Possibly the force will end up being the embodied spirit of girl power.
