I love how during Autoscroll-like sections where you literally can't do anything to speed things up, like in most of the Bonecoaster level here, TASers just show off and do a bunch of crazy stunts that do absolutely nothing as far as making you faster goes but are just fun, silly, and cool. You could just sit in place and do nothing for most of the level besides jumping over the lava pits and jumping off early with momentum once a section ends and be just as fast, but all the stunts make it so much more enjoyable.

That's what the white tanuki suit does in some other games, this game has "super guide" where if you lose too much you can hit the block and Luigi will do the level for you

It's just because of how this specific code is handed. This one is the one included into the wiird database but it's sort of a half-baked star, because Mario doesn't have the rainbow effect or the music, and you have to activate it with a button combination. But there are codes that give you a full-on infinite Star that includes the things I mentioned as well as keeping it on the world map

It does, actually. That was an ability given to the power-up first in NSMB DS (or I guess SMW2: Yoshi's Island technically [or tEcHnIcAlLy Super Mario Kart], but there the speed-up part worked a bit differently). It doesn't do that in any mainline game before Yoshi's Island (so not counting Mario Kart), however, so in any older games you still run at normal speed (SMB3 did add the cool flips when jumping though but that's just visual), but from NSMB DS onward it's kept the speed up ability, even in all the game styles in Mario Maker.
