I'm studying Economic Complexity, but it is not clear for me when stops to do the reflections. I overlooked Haussman and Hildago's paper, appendix and the atlas but the doubt holds. Can someone help with that? Many thanks!

It's amazing how scholars keep re-inventing the classical labour theory of value...

It's even more amazing when you understand it.

@@SpaghettiToaster As Marx once commented, it's understandable by a teenager... Many years ago I tried it with my eldest grandson (when he was 16) and he got it... «Human labour is the source of all value».... Or, as Jean Bodin put it (late XVI century), "there is no richness except humans."... The story actually goes back to Thomas of Aquinas and even earlier to Aristote... So, what's new?

@@bertrandnzomigni8084 sorry, what is your question?... «How do they re-invent a theory that goes back - at least to the classics of XVIII and XIX centuries?»... If that is your question, I guess by «opening up their minds and piercing through the muddle of neoclassical «scholasticism» of «too much algebra and not enough wisdom».

What has this got to do with the classical labour theory of value? The 'complexity' of an economy measure described here seems to me to be about the variety and co-utility of the knowledge of those who participate in said economy. The hypothesis, and possibly findings, of the research is that the more complex the economy the more prosperous it is in the future. Are you saying that the labour theory of value says that the value of a product comes from how complex it is to create? I.e the more interlocking variety of knowledge is needed?
