some of RV's stuff I truly love and some other stuff is just too complex, to abstract for me to be able to get into... but that is the genius of it, he is really stretching the limits of what the mind can tolerate... or enjoy and move to with the 4/4 rhythm... we associate that style of music with a kind of care free euphoria, joy and movement on the dance floor... where he wants to make your mind go different places and see if the thoughts and the raw feelings can coexist. And of course he also wants to find new layers of sound, the guy is all about the sound, pushing the limits of the system, no doubt.

Remember you need a high quality, preferably flat surround sound club speaker set up to fully appreciate Ricardos work.

a flat club soundsystem is what nightmares are made of. before you could even start to feel the bass, your ears would bleed from the high frequencies provided at the same volume.

Villalobos' work is remarkable regardless of the soundsystem in my opinion... I'm listening his art daily on regular 15euros Skype headphones at my workplace. Fadutron is on my top 3 tracks alongside Clap and Kime Ne.

in other words it has to be loud to overlook how average and dated this production is, yet the sheeple will laud it cos villalobos made a couple of decent tracks and was popular.

let me just say that this man is pushing the boundaries of sound. his understanding of the way the brain processes these millions of little soundbytes is nothing short of pure genius. him and aphex are something out of an ancient scripture. i cant even control my body, my fingers, etc. when this music plays. they just do their own thing lol

I think he developed such music concept by then (2005) that now a days is rare to find it anymore. A lot of minimal micro house with long drops is most common to get from music shops.

It reminds me the time when I used to explore wet dungeons in my favourite PC roleplaying games. It's just litterally like a danceable version of it. That kind of sounds from the 2000s minimal scene was really cutting-edge and never been done before. It had something really superior, made for the mind, the dream and fantasy. In my opinion, most electronic music from the 2010s and now 2020s sounds really poor and retro compared to this genius scene. 2000s were the future, and in terms of music Villalobos was one of their cornerstones.

That's the way this music is working, take your time you have to be in a different mood to be able to appreciate it, it's not pop music you know

i think that the greatnes of that track is that it has the time to tell the story..the narration is a great thing for an artist to achieve..n i also believe and i agree with you that mabe the story here is not that much comlete..but is has sounds and music statements that they are undoubted.. :-)
