Marcelo Garcia, commonly known as ‘Marcelinho’, is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under Master Fabio Gurgel, who competes for the Alliance BJJ academy. Having won 5 world jiu-jitsu tournaments and 4 times the ADCC (two of the most important tournaments in jiu-jitsu), Garcia is widely considered one of the best grapplers in the world, while his general demeanor made him one of the most beloved athletes by the BJJ community. Marcelo Garcia has also been featured in BJJHeroes top 10 Best Grapplers of All Time list.
Mike Fowler is a jiu-jitsu black belt who gained recognition for his unique leopard print hairstyle and his fast rise to the top of grappling’s competitive scene, achieving his black belt under coach Lloyd Irvin in 3.5 years - the first athlete to complete the curriculum of Irvin’s highly marketed “Grappling Blue Print” program. Although Fowler was once Irvin’s star pupil winning against many big names of the sport, in 2012 Mike would leave the team in less than amicable terms.

People that dont know dont understand how good Fowler did here. This was MG at the absolute height of his power. He almost went the distance while Marcelo was blasting most of his opponents in just a minute or two. He subbed everyone he faced in this tournament except in the absolute finals, where Drysdale got the biggest W of his career.

What’s crazy to me in this match is how long Mike Fowler keeps half guard without a underhook against Marcelo… as a half guard player during this time i always to replicate it to zero success yet Fowler did it with Marcelo
