Embarassing to have a conversation with an elite level player at the height of the most elite sport in the world and a female professional footballer. Its just cringe. To pretend theyre even remotely the same universe. The difference in viewers, supporters in stadiums, pressure on matches, quality, physicality, skill, playing responsibilities in terms of amount of matches in a year and time between games... its just pathetic and embarrassing to compare the two. Let alone to have a women's team that has adopted the name of a club with hundreds of years of incredible storied history created by men; and piggybacking on that success and historical meaning by claiming they play for the same club. It undermines the sacrifice and dedication and rarity it takes to play for the actual club. The real club. The first team. Embarrassing society we live in. Womens sport, great, Womens football, great. But dont pretend like theyre the same. Theyre not. If it was, men and women would compete against each other, and professional womens teams wouldnt be getting beaten by amateur U15 boys teams.
