Reference this spreadsheet to see what stats your Childe lacks. Varies based on weapon, but some general tips are that 4p heart of depth set is the best overall, pyro and electro supports are generally great with Childe (Beidou, Bennett, Fishcl, Lisa, Xiangling and even hydro chars like Xingqiu and Barbara) but of course just play who you like. I use Childe’s melee for around 15 seconds or so before switching, to make use of the heart of depth set effect as well as rotate between supports to get Childe’s melee form back.

I'd prefer if they just create some sort of shared character system. If you already have Hydro Childe, the Electro one that you will also roll for the gacha will be the same base Childe but the talents, Ascension stats and visuals will be different and will be leveled up separately. Just like the Traveler, we can just switch between elements through the menu or something.
