Exactly, with a hard cap it's always about opportunity costs. After losing to the Bengals in the AFC Championship game and being helpless to stop Burrows-to-Chase, the Chiefs had to pick between keeping Tyreek Hill or Chris Jones. The hit to the offense was huge, but offset by improvements in the defense. Keeping Jones & Sneed is far more important than splashing out big $$$ on an aging big name wide receiver. Rice will be better in year 2, and there are a lot of high potential WR in this year's draft. Picking up another rookie receiver with upside that fits within the cap makes more sense than ditching either Sneed or Jones.

Finally one media member who understands. The Chiefs have their own problems to take care of before going after Evans. Plus Evans will ask for at least 25 mil and rightfully so. And the Chiefs can’t afford that!! They need to sign Chris Jones, Sneed and players like Tranquill, and Danna. But I do believe they will sign free agents like Shaheed or Gabe Davis or Mooney.

The great thing about the Chiefs is there is no Reid offense that needs specific types of players. Reid runs plays to fit the players he has. If there is a great FA TE wiling to work cheap for a shot at a ring Reid will find ways to win. We may even bring back a FB.

Mike Evans will be a HOF but definitely not a 1st ballot candidate maybe a second at best. He’s numbers are good for the QBs he played with but he never even had one single 100 catch season. If he goes to KC he’s not going to get what he can get elsewhere but he stills going to get paid + add to his legacy yes he already gots a ring but if you care about being in talks about greatness in one of the greatest WR of all time go play with Mahomes for 3-4 years get those numbers up an get your bag and feel that feeling again of being a champion. Let’s say KC offers him a 17ML per year contract for like 3 years that’s still 51 million dollars

Did everyone just forget the Chiefs had the number 1 offense the year they traded Tyreek Hill? Mahomes was tearing defenses apart while averaging like 4 air yards per throw, and he won MVP that way. Find some good young weapons in the draft to help take some of the burden off of him, so they don't have to rely as much on him in the future.

Chiefs proved that great coaching can do just as well with young, anonymous WRs. Tyreek Hill, Davonte Adams, CeeDee, Amon-Ra, DeHop, Chase or Diggs don't take their teams anywhere, despite their fabulous abilities. HCs and QBs do.

Chiefs need a good veteran WR, but they dont need to break the bank for them. They just need to find a WR who will take a discount for playing on a championship run. Last year they couldn't find one but I think there are some WR who regret that decision. If Mike Evans wants money, he will get it, but not on the chiefs. But if he is willing to take 10 million or so, then sure, welcome aboard. Chiefs know they can win a SB without a top flight WR, if no veteran wants to take a discount, they will head to the draft. I think they resign Jones to a 3 year deal, and tag Sneed, and offer free agent WRs modest deals with lots of incentives on next years cap (like Jones got) they can choose to accept or reject. Maybe one will decide they want to win again.
