He won 5 less games and missed the playoffs with the same roster. The offensive rating also dropped significantly. Anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. Anyone that says it was about the system doesn't know what they are talking about. If it was about the system, Brady would have never gotten a contract above the league avg. If it's about the system, BB would have drafted a low-level QB and rode him through the rookie deal and recycled him afterwards for 20 years.

If the record was 9-7 a five game drop is 4-12. 12-4 a five game drop is 7-9. The only reason it looks good is because Brady was otherworldly the year before. Also that team was one of the best ever. You could of put any quarterback on that team and they would of won at least 9 games.

I think most Patriot haters(which I am the King) hate the Organization in general. Kraft and BB are pretty much the epitome of arrogance. As a Giants fan and a Football fan, Tom Brady has always been a classy competitor and a guy you couldn't really hate. Now that he is away from that horrible situation, Football fans throughout the Country can quietly root for a guy they loved to hate. Good Luck, Tommy!

TheTommyboy63 I think a lot of the people who hate the patriots are probably younger. The start of their dynasty was so respected because it wasn’t with stars. They did it with a back up qb and slow but cerebral line backers. Tom didn’t used to always be the villiain.

Matt Cassel won 11 games with one of the best teams of all time. It was a five game decline from the previous year. The only reason why it looks good is because the drop was from 16wins, but a five game drop is quite a lot. This Patriots team is not that good and will not compete next year. Defense is pretty good, but getting old and weak up the middle. Plus they have little money on their salary cap and nobody wants to go there now that Brady is gone.

I agree with all your points, except for the part of "nobody wants to go there now that Brady's gone" - Belichick's still there, so is the coaching staff, and so is the winning culture they've built up all these years. I agree that this will be a rebuilding year for NE and they won't be contending for much, if anything, but to say that the entire franchise is a shithole that nobody wants to play for anymore, solely because they lost Brady, is more than a little overreaction. Brady was the main reason the Pats were so attractive to players, but he wasn't the ONLY reason, In terms of team culture and coaching staff, the Patriots are still the best organization in the league.

I'm a Pats fan and the Matt Cassell argument is BS. Cassell inherited a team that was largely in tact from the team that went 16-0 the year before. That's like inheriting a Lambo. Jarret Stidham (or whoever the QB is) is inheriting a used CRV. It ain't the same. Pats will be in the neighborhood of 4-12 and I say thank god. We'll have a decent 1st round pick for the first time in literally decades. I'm excited to see what the front office can do to rebuild over the next 2-3 seasons and beyond.

Hahah...well, Pats fans...your days of competing for Super Bowls and such are going to be gone for a long, long time. Belichick will revert to his old 90's Cleveland Browns reign and you will once again understand the word "mediocre." The dynasty is finished. The Pats won't win the AFC East this year. I hope you enjoyed that success because reality is going to be a bitch.

Rich one big difference we have Bill. The myth that he was failing in Cleveland is false. He had a team that had made the playoffs and won a game the year before. They were 3-1 and a SB favorite when Art Modell blew up the operation with the move to Indy. Players focus was never the same that year. Their life was in upheaval. Bill is a great coach and builder. Just watch.

The Pats lost 2 key defensive starters and other free agents and Buffalo and Miami are much improved. N.E. regression will be totally attributed to the loss of Brady however , as the media and fans like simplistic single explanations .
