It wasnt the choice, It was the principle of Cal giving his word to his newly Franchise tagged QB that he would have him involved in the selection of the GM and Coach. He was mainly triggered at them not giving the chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy an interview (for HC) while also finding out about the GM hire via social media.

Texans gave all their young cornerstones help. Hunter helps with pass rush, takes some doubles off of Anderson, makes Stingley's job easier. Diggs helps Stroud on 3rd down especially, and mentors Tank. Mixon can block and catch which is important in this offense. Texans look like they will be really fun to watch this season.
@curtisgriffinjr743
@curtisgriffinjr743 Ай бұрын
I agree with voiding the contract. Diggs has proven he will wear out a welcome quick. Add in the fact that it is likely that Houston will ask Diggs to man the slot primarily (something he only did 36% of the time in Buffalo) so that Nico and Tank can stay outside, and I think it was saying smart move to get Diggs to play nice with what is going to be asked of him. He'll get his targets in this instance and he'll show that he can successfully transition to the slot and still be dominant while prolonging his career Wes Welker and Julian Edelman style. Everyone is making a big deal out of the second rounder they're giving up next year but it isn't even THEIR second rounder. Besides, the same way they came upon that second rounder, they can come upon another one by next year's draft. And if this works out, they don't NEED a 2nd rounder next year.
@SonofStormblessed
@SonofStormblessed Ай бұрын
Lol... This makes no sense at all. Just seems like the delusional ranting of a Texans fan. Especially given Walker and Edleman both had relatively short careers, and didn't have there career 'prolonged' by switching to the slot, they were always and ONLY ever slot guys. And both only had about 5 years of actual good play. If you have to change history to feel good about something, then maybe you shouldn't actually feel good about it. Just saying.

Nick took Mills in 3rd round because you HAVE to keep trying to fill the QB hole regardless what your roster looks like. Nick is smart, he knows a team with no QB is a dead team walking. The small possibility of upside on Mills was worth the risk of a 3rd round pick because if Mills had panned out hed look like a genius even faster. You have to give Nick credit he didnt force the issue staying with Mills he moved on when he had the chance and took it with Stroud

There was always a scenario in which the puzzling moves Nick Caserio made early on made sense. The difficult thing for Texans fans is do we believe that scenario or the many other more likely (more Texan) scenarios. My stance was we’re on this train. We just have to give it time. Thankfully, the Caserio scenario we got was the best one. And on top of that, we got lucky. We’ll never know if we had the first pick who he would’ve e drafted at QB. We may never know if he truly wanted DeMeco or if ownership leaned on him to go that route. What’s undeniable is Nick has quickly built a talented team without overspending or putting the Texans future in jeopardy. If these moves this offseason don’t work, we’re not in trouble. If they do, we may be on our way to something Houston has never seen before. Either way, it’s an exciting time to be a Texans fan. One last thing to point out that should be the envy of the entire league is the working relationship between DeMeco and Nick. Two guys from completely different schools of thought not letting their egos get in the way finding ways to get the best of both worlds. After living through the Bill O’Brien era, this is so refreshing. Every team should pursue GMs and coaches like this imo.

Bills don't need a WR in the 1st-rd of the draft they did sign Curtis Samuel, a starting WR on any team &Allen has a connection w/ Khalil Shakir, maybe that continues to grow &they run more two-TE sets then most teams, so the Bills really only need two-WRs. they're still gonna sign a veteran or two after the draft &maybe they draft a receiver in the 3rd or 4th round. But they should just wait until the 2025 draft when they have two 2nd-round picks &use them both on wide-receivers. Only a veteran-WR can thrive in the current situation that's the Bills wait a year before getting a young star on the outside

Two years into a five year extension with the Vikings Diggs was late to practices, missing meetings, overall bad attitude even though his production on the field was great. The Bills make the mistake of thinking a change of scenery will fix everything. A few years (and another extension) later and Buffalo takes a cap hit just to get rid of Diggs because again his attitude was detracting from the team. The third time isn't going to be the charm. Granted, Houston is banking on one good year and get out before the problems start. The issue with that plan is that the production isn't what it used to be. And to think, Buffalo could've kept the 22nd pick in 2020 and taken Justin Jefferson.

We hear this same story every off-season, it usually doesn't go the way the supposed "analysts" say it will. Especially because this is all after trading for one single, probably washed up, drama-filled receiver. But this is the NFL media, where actual historical data, actual precedent, and typical trends are constantly ignored. The game isn't played on paper. What will actually matter, especially for the Texans, will be player development. Stroud isn't guaranteed to be better, or even as good as he was last year. Let's see what he looks like with a year of film on him. Maybe he'll rise above it, but there's a just a good chance that he'll actually regress. But nobody seems to want to say that. Doesn't matter that it happens all the time. Again the game isn't played on paper, and Rich of all people should know better. The Jets for years have been "winning the off-season" on paper, it has not even remotely translated to the field. Cause the actual reality is that there are 31 other teams out there, and some of them actually understand that player development will play the biggest role in them getting better. And if you want some actual proof (something all these shows ignore) check out the historical data for the Steelers, the Packers, The Patriots of years ago, the 2010 Seahawks, or practically every long-sustained successful team. The success was mostly from developing players. Which maybe the Texans will do that. But to me this feels a lot like the 2021 Browns, a team supposedly on the rise, with a young rising QB. Or the Chargers of the last 3 years.
