The league isn’t set up for an aging QB who relies on his ability to escape to hide his flaws. DL/DE is too fast now. His inability to complete intermediate timing throws led to terrible sacks, and will always be the reason why he won’t make it back to a SB. Quick Stat: In total sacks, Denver’s OL was ranked top 5 in the NFL, responsible for 70.1% of sacks. Russ was ranked 1st (for QBs), responsible for 24.3%. He had a great career in Seattle, but that old Russ doesn’t exist anymore.

Nailed it. Couldn't run a cutdown version of Payton's offense which relies on timing. Too many look at the stats and think he played well. It was either checkdowns or hail Marys with little in-between

Denver’s OL isn’t close to a top 5 OL in reality. Yea, Wilson might of been responsible for 25% of his sacks but his supporters would argue that with a pocket QB Denver woulda gave up FAR MORE sacks than they did with Russell, that he avoided a lot of sacks avoiding far more than he gave up , but that Denver is just horrific in pass protection and Sean Payton’s play calling did nothing to help Russ out.

I like the idea of Russ with the Giants. They then can re-sign Saquon and focus on receivers and the O-line in free agency and the draft. Tyrod Taylor is underrated, but I think that Russ might be even better. Daniel Jones is at best a competent backup. No dishonor in that. He was just drafted too high.

As a Steelers fan, I agree with Rich. I think the Steelers want to give Pickett a shot with a proven OC in Arthur Smith, something he hasn't had in his career with Canada. Arthur has a great track record as a play-caller at the NFL level, that's what gave him the opportunity in Atlanta. Canada was never an OC in the NFL before the Steelers promoted him and ultimately, the lack of experience was his downfall. If you look at the three years under Canada, Roethlisberger had one his worst statistical years in a decade. Ben retires and they signed Mitch and drafted Kenny, and both struggled. Those last three games with Mason were with Sullivan and Faulkner dialing up a lot more pass plays down the field than I've seen under Canada which opened up the offense more than we've seen in a long time. To me, that's why it makes sense to either bring back Mason or go out and bring in Tannehill, who knows Arthur Smith's system and can be like another coach to Kenny and the rest of the offense. Lets not forget, Pittsburgh also had one of the worst O-Lines in the last five years, inconsistent rushing offense (which ranked dead last in the league 4 years ago) and troubles with dropped passes. With all of that together, no wonder their offense has been one of the worst in that time frame.

Russ was at his best when had LOB and a strong running game. Last year Russ only won one game when Denver’s defense didn’t force more than two turnovers in a game. Russ has and will probably always need to play with a strong defense. He needs to go to Pittsburgh to salvage his career.

Russell Wilson to the Giants makes sense as the veteran QB presence that Joe Schoen wants for his rebuild. It might not make sense for RW if he wants to win now. The Giants have to get more playmakers on both sides of the ball. I would sooner bring RW here as opposed to trading up for a rookie QB and losing draft capital. It also means the Giants can take all the time in the world to make sure Jones is healthy and ready to come back. No need to rush his healing process. Tommy D gets to watch an experienced championship QB show him differently.
