The name of this movie is She Creature. It came out in 2000/2001 as part of a block of four original horror films for Cinemax. The other three were Earth vs. the Spider, How to Make a Monster and The Day the World Ended. Of the four, She Creature was the best-hands down. It had a good script, supported by creepy visuals, solid direction and good performances. Most notable was the actress portraying the mermaid, Rya Khilstedt. Woman had no dialogue. She had to sell her performance solely through non-verbals, and she totally did. The maliciousness of this creature was unmistakable. Brought this mermaid as being a legit threat and apex predator. And that was before it went “super Saiyan.” Once it assumed its final/true form, it was like the characters were stuck on a rickety vessel boat with something that was like a combo of the shark from Jaws and a xenomorph. This was one of those rare straight to cable flicks that made me wonder why it wasn’t in theaters. Only issue I’ve got with She Creature is it ended on a sequel bait, cliffhanger that was not delivered on. Aside from that, if you can find this, dig in and enjoy. Will not regret it.

Lily singing at the circus made me think she was a descendant of the sirens/mermaids. It's possible she just can't get pregnant unless she's "home" at the islands' seas. The tail touch could have played a factor in it too

That makes sense, it may not be a queen but reproducing is probably rare if she's an ancient creature. Though she does get legs at some point which could be how she can breed with a human male. If it's just for a day giving birth would be impossible though.

Well all mermaids are female. Mermen are the males. Maids mate with men and make more merfolk. But this story doesn't seem to be based off of mer-lore. This is based off of siren lore. This creature is absolutely a siren. In which case, you are correct. Sirens are always female, born female, and mate with and eat human males. They did this for eons by luring them to rock islands when sailing.

I think Lilly was just the vessel for the queen to conceive a child. The queen possessed Lilly when she was with her husband and became pregnant when it wasn't possible. Because the child is half human, this may be a means for the creatures to evolve and the child will be able to walk and also live in the ocean.

I have a scientific theory regarding Lily’s daughter and how she became pregnant despite being infertile. The mermaid queen during the time she took over Lily’s body the telekinetic switch also made fertile as if she rearranged the genetic code to make her produce. So when the daughter was born she has the red eyes like a mermaid. Symbolizes that the mermaids who needs to reproduce, they need a host like a parasite and In doing so, makes the women be the host for the unborn child. And given there’s no male mermaids that speaks for itself stating they’re unable to self reproduce.
@littleprince436 Жыл бұрын
Make sense. This lair queen can even be the daughter of the lady who wrote the diary....
@MegaMegafran Жыл бұрын
There is a tv show called Grimm where there was an episode on mermaids and in it, it explained that male mermaids were sterile while females weren't and as a way to reproduce the females would mate with male sailors, once the deed was done the male mermaids would kill the sailor and raise the child as his own. Your theory reminded me of it, it would make sense if the mermaids were sort of by product of parasitic encounters, the queen is the only one able to reproduce (a way of population control when food is scarse in some species like insects) by taking over a human host temporarily who later gives birth to a future mermaid and since the queen is the only one allowed to leave the island to bring the prey to them it would make sense for her to be the one who controls how many mermaids are born each at a time

I also wanted to look at moments of contact because I had the same thought. It’s an odd symbiosis to have with prey. I suppose ideally the siren would lure a woman to the water to seed, whereas they lure the men to eat. Makes sense. That island was no place to raise a kid. Heh.

The Queen has an unusual power never seen in any merpeople films and series before. She can induce fertility in others. The child is a mermaid that needs to grow an mature before joining her pod. There doesn't seem to b mermen unless they've got there own community. FYI, in my own research, merpeople myths r older then sirens. Mermaids would sit on rocks while combing their hair and singing to make sailors jump overboard trying to reach them only to drown from the undertow. Mermen did the same thing to sailing women, minus the hair combing.

It’s called “She creature”. It’s part of this low budget company called “creature feature” from the early 2000 that made pretty good horror films.

The mermaid also made the old woman pregnant. I think that's just how their species reproduces and Lily's daughter is one.

The problem with YT ads is that they waste our time takling crap BEFORE telling what we want to hear. That sucks!

The mermaid was like aerial but wanted to have a child that could live amongst the human. When she swiped her tail against the woman, it impregnated her. And the human was carrying her child.😂😂😂😂sounds about right

My theory is that the girls were helping eachother - both of them wanted to escape and go home. And when you have that energy everything is possible - like pregnancy of another girl. I think here the story ends - both girls deserve to be at home with their kids.

Wrong, in todays time they are mermaids and in classic Greek literature sirens were bird women creatures, hence why they sang sings

I was gonna ask the name and realized I read it in the beginning of the video! Found it after I searched Rachel Weisz and still could not find the name. It didn't make sense that I couldn't find it under her profile. Which it isn't!??
@mcwatches Жыл бұрын
Try looking for Carla Gugino, who played Lily Shaw, instead of Rachel Weisz. "She Creature" is a television movie and is under Carla's filmography.
