I am in JKUAT, Kenya and incivil engineering and that marvel is called arching- the span is kinda curved so the load is distributed evenly on the supports carrying that span and finally to the ground. It is one of the safest construction techniques. Engineering is a mystery.

The thing that baffles me about American neighborhoods is that they don't have gates or fences around the houses like here in Kenya where we use as protection....how is that??

it is because everyone is rich and no one gives a hoot about what you've got. here in Africa, Kenya, the poor are awake because they are hungry while the rich are awake because the poor are hungry..that is why they have to put up those high fences.

Reason for a curvy bridge is, helps to dissipate the force of the load (the weight of the people and things on the bridge) outwards instead of downwards like on a linear bridge.

There's rich people everywhere in Minnesota even in the bad neighborhoods now house is cost $300,000 even in the neighborhoods where they're shootings and gangs it's still hard to find houses in those neighborhoods the house next to me goes for $300,000 and there was a murder in my front yard and they still want that much for the houses that's how bad the market is in Minnesota I have never seen it this high as it is right now that's why there's so much homelessness even in the ass cold as it is here they still have people sleeping outside when it's 20 and 30 below zero in the winter I don't know how the hell you could sleep outside but they do if I was homeless I would go to California or Florida where it's warm! I have lived in Minneapolis for 55 years off and on I lost a bunch of rental properties in the economy collapse in 2008 when Obama came into office it got better now the houses are too expensive but there is tons of work in the jobs pay very good as a matter of fact it's hard to find people who want to work after the pandemic even Target pays $25 an hour my brother works they're driving forklift and he makes 28 dollars an hour I am a Union pipefitter I make about $35 an hour. But there's a lot of mixed race couples in Minneapolis my mom and dad couldn't get married because it was illegal when I was born here in Minneapolis in 1967 it was still illegal for blacks and whites to get married in the United States but in Minneapolis they still were together but they couldn't get married now you see them everywhere here in Minneapolis. If you want to see some expensive houses go on a Minnetonka they I go fishing out there every day in the summer they have houses with helicopter pads Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have a house on the lake and they have a helicopter out there I saw Janet Jackson when she was up here working on her album when I was a kid I used to sell drugs to Prince and his friends I knew his bodyguard named chick he was a Hell's Angel biker he was huge.. Prince's sister who he left all that money to still lives in the house he gave her in the hood I still see her at the neighborhood watch meetings she comes sometimes but she has all that money and she still lives in that terrible neighborhood she has a drug problem I don't know if she still does now but she still lives in that bad neighborhood and she's got millions of dollars so I know if I had that much money I wouldn't be staying in this neighborhood still so she must be still getting high

@Robin Yes, the housing industry in MN has been trashed. It was once affordable homes, in all income levels. Now it’s 300,000 for a place that needs to be gutted inside for another 100,000, from the people that trashed it. Unbelievable.

it's called an arch system whereby the load is transferred from the centre of the horizontal arch beam to the vertical columns
@dennismathenge8065 Жыл бұрын
For me hio nasema hio arc iko designed hivyo because of the distance cover from one pillar to another ikue refu due to cost effectiveness na the arch is able to carry itself by the arch depth.. so for a such structure to cover such a distance itadepend Kwa depth ya beam so hio arch ina act kama beam.
