Lana's love was so great for clark that she always sacrificed herself, also, lois had an easy path without obstacles, true love went through obstacles, barriers. They just left Clark with Lois for the comics

At the end, Lois and Clark ended up together, kinda like they had no other option... Hollywood always wants to portrait Lois as Clark's true love, but even in the comics, Clark and Lana's love is more pure, genuine and intense than Lois's... For instance, Lois fell in love with Superman before Clark Kent and she is the one marrying Lex Luthor, she's more shallow and driven by ambition and curiosity... when Lana loves Clark since they were children and that why she is the 1st to know his secret beside his parents

Hollywood writers always live in fear that if they put a couple together, all the tense will drain out of the series and it will die. They can write married couples, but somehow now single couples, without destroying a show. So bringing Lana back to spoil Lois and Clark was sadly predictable. :-(

Sadly, yes. I think they screwed up royally when they brought Lana back for the 5 episodes season 8. Things were on a roll with Clark & Lois. Remember the stair scene at the wedding? Then they cooled it off completely by having Clark & Lana get back together. Made Lois look like a fill in for absent Lana. I kept thinking: "Why did they do that?!" Should have been when Clark's feelings were affirmed for Lois, where HE realized Lois was the one. Hard to believe women writers wrote that episode.

I like the couple Lana and Clark, but honestly, Clark didn't deserve Lana. In the first season, Lana had a good relationship with Witney and they were happy, and Clark did everything he could to be with Lana. Clark had this goal of dating Lana. In the second season, Witney dies and the path is clear for Clark and he moves away from Lana. In the third season, she makes Lana suffer a lot. She spends practically the entire third season trying to date him and he just turns her down. And when someone shows up who is interested in her, Clark tries to push that someone away from her. I don't know, it seems like he only likes the game of conquest. It seems like his real goal is just to play with her. It's a shame that Witney died in the second season. He deserved to be with Lana.
