I David Machado graduated Montebello in 1958 I think. haha Now I am 83 and your outstanding movie captured that time very well. My sister Naomi graduated three years behind me. I was in love with one of the cheer leaders named Virginia States. I had her in my US History class with Ms Allen. I stared at her for a whole term because I was too shy to do talk to talk to her. In my Year Book she wrote "you are the strangest person I ever met". Maybe if she sees this she will remember.

What great memories !! You did a great job matching the music to the film also ! I graduated from Montebello in 1960 - went to Montebello Jr high and Washington Elementary !I recognized some of the girls - Kathy Kersh !! Wow! She was so pretty ! She went on to marry Vince Edwards (Ben Casey) and Robin ( Burt Ward ) and I saw her as Miss Beverly Hills on The Beverly Hillbillies ! Thanks for the memories !

My parents graduated high school in the '60's and I've been fascinated with the time period since I first flipped through their yearbooks. I'm glad to have graduated HS in the early '90's, but have always loved their pictures and stories.

MHS class of 91 representing...This video is cool. Love the fashion back then, I too bet it was a fun era. My mom was class of 68, uncle class of 69 and my other uncle class of 73. Thanks for taking us back. The school has changed a lot, even from the time I went.

Thank you so much for posting this. My mother was a senior at MHS when this movie was made. She passed away almost 5 years ago (Nedra Barnum). My sister and I think we may have seen her at 0:22 and 1:02 (doing kicks with some friends). We aren't sure that it is her, but it brings us both a lot of delight to think that it might have been.
@MrGGPRI7 жыл бұрын
As a member of the MHS class of 1959, I remember your mother Nedra as a pretty and elegant classmate, regretting that I did not get to know her better (class of 1960); I think she appears in the 1 minute clip of the "movie" . Nedra is also on page 153 of the 1959 Golden Key as a Pep rally member. Sad that many of my classmates have now passed before their time but really, who is to say. MHS was a great place to be in the 1950’s and the teachers were the greatest and the basic education at MHS later helped me later develop an electronics business that lasted for almost 40 years.

Quite the contrary, Rich -- not boring at all. We see movies from 1959 all the time, but it's interesting to see real people in their real clothes just being themselves. Thanks for posting this.

Although Montebello high school seems like a far cry today from the era shown in this film can you name any high school that is? This was almost a half century ago. Demographics changed, as has America in general. My family went there in the 60's and my nephew a few years back. It is not a bad school despite the negative press many of the students created for themselves a few years ago. But was that much different than the walk outs of the 1970's? The era of Ozzie and Harriet just a memory

Beautiful video. Sad to read some of the comments. Mexicans have always served honorably and exceptionally in the military. In fact, they are the group that has received the most medals of honor. Yet one incident where the students of MHS weren't even involved in is the most memorable. Pathetic!

This is a great video! Though it's impossible not to see the obvious demographic change that has occurred. There are good reasons for this, not all of them related to "open borders" either. Notice the date on the video? The birth control pill was introduced in 1960, followed by abortion being legalized in 1973. And thus began the self-genocide of a once great people...All the while to the south, Catholic Mexico grew and grew. Not really all that hard to figure out.

Don't be so quick to blame open borders and illegals. Look back to the start of the bilingual/multilingual era that started in the 70's. You can blame the liberal academics (most of whom were non-minorities at that time) for that. In the end assimilation into the mainstream American culture was severely discouraged.
