A coming-of-age story that takes place in the strict boarding school nestled in the Himalayas, Girls Will Be Girls revolves around the rocky relationship between sixteen-year-old Mira (Preeti Panigrahi) and her mother Anila (Kani Kusruti). It marks the maiden production venture by actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal. Girls Will Be Girls, which is directed by Shuchi Talati, won two awards at Sundance 2024 - The Audience Award in the World Cinema Dramatic category, and the Special Jury Award for Acting for its lead actor Preeti Panigrahi.
Richa Chadha (born 18 December 1986) is an Indian actress, producer and political activist who works in Hindi cinema. After debuting in a small role in the comedy film Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (2008), Chadha's breakthrough came in 2012 with a supporting role in the noir gangster saga Gangs of Wasseypur, where her role as the bellicose and foul-tongued wife of a gangster earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics).
Ali Fazal (born 15 October 1986) is an Indian actor. He made his screen debut with a small role in the English language film The Other End of the Line (2008) before appearing in the American television miniseries Bollywood Hero (2009). He had his first Hindi film release with a supporting role in 3 Idiots (2009), and went on to star in Always Kabhi Kabhi (2011), Baat Ban Gayi (2013), and Bobby Jasoos (2014).
