Interesting, but no mention of his Leigh connection, Leigh being known as King of cotton and coal during the industrial revolution. He drew up much of his works with Thomas Highs in Leigh Lancashire, and with Leigh being so flat needed a different location to power the Water Frame as it was known then.

An interesting video about a leading inventor and entrepreneur who was also a ruthless exploiter of child labour. Probably no time in the video to mention his earlier Nottingham factory, his partnership with Jedediah Strutt and Samuel Need to finance Cromford Mill, and his debt to John Kay in developing the spinning frame. On a financial note calculations indicate that £500,000 in 1792 is worth approximately £70 million today rather than £300 million. An impressive fortune nevertheless given his origins.

Water power Clean no wast dangerous bi-products, cheep to run has stood the test of time. With modern technology added to the mix we should all have free electric by now after the initial install costs to the home and a few pound a year maintenance costs England should have been light years ahead of the game. But I have a plan.
