I agree his released songs are all good and a chunky proportion are just stunning. There is a handful of songs on this album alone, any of which most musicians would give their left testicle to have written. I doubt however that he never writes bad songs. It’s just that he saves us from stuff he doesn’t rate and like. I’m not a musician but I’ve heard those who are say you always have to write way more songs than needed for an album, if you’re wanting a consistently high quality album.

Hey; amazing huh? I've been in hospital since January 2020. Mrsa: Not something you'd choose to get at Covid time in middle age. 5ft 7inches ....saw my weight drop to 5stone 4lbs....Trapoed in my head with a body that wouldn't work and I couldn't speak toward the end - quite literally:Nobody came to see me obviously; they couldn't. I couldn't talk anyways - 7.5 months later - children not seen for nany months; husband left and career destroyed: Best fucking thing possible; I Am building a new one; my 42nd birthday Aug 1st; but I think you know - I aint 42. 💙

I love that Richard doesn’t bang out albums to some publicists or record company’s demands. F them, he’s Richard Ashcroft and as far as I’m concerned, he can do whatever he wants and I’ll listen. Anyone know why he’s holding a WW2 style gas mask? He’s a cool looking dude in his blue suit. My favourite look though is in the video to “They don’t own me”, because I’m an outdoors person too as well as a biker. We differ in our preferences on manufacturers I suppose. His machine is an old British trials bike. I was bowled over by the Japanese invasion of the 1970s and that can make a permanent impression on a kid. I like that he’s undoubtedly a truther, or whatever it’s called these days. He knows his industry is utterly corrupt and has been used for social engineering for at least 65 years. I know my former industry (big pharma) is utterly corrupt & has been used to destroy lives and worse for a hundred years. Musicians can choose not to participate in creating the hellscape they’ve helped build and it is my sense that that’s exactly what Mr Ashcroft has chose. I don’t know where he was when with the Verve, but he’s proudly independent.
