There was no mention of the TV series Dr. Kildare, his iconic role that made him a household name. Why wasn't the title of his hit song mentioned? Three Stars Will Shine Tonight

To be honest, your comment made me happy, because I don't think many people (especially young people) know this actor. Well, I will have the opportunity to do a more in-depth podcast about this talented actor in the future

I think they attempted to mention it at the beginning but it got garbled.

I’ve never heard Richard Chamberlain described as anything but charming, warm, talented and, of course, incredibly handsome!

Yes, Richard Chamberlain was a great and versatile actor. Back in the 60's when Dr. Kildare was a hit series, Dick used to escort an older woman to all parties and premiers. Naturally, fans of movie mags assumed that the older woman was his permanent squeeze. He endeared himself to movie-goers in a wide-range of films such as : This charge is murder, King Solomon's Mines [with the young Sharon Stone], Joy in the morning with Yvette Mimieux. His torrid love sequences with Yvette fooled the public and movie-makers. He was so natural and caught up in these steamy sequences, it left no room to even cast a smidgen of suspicion to suggest that he was gay. Her worked out constantly and had an enviable body and legs. Ample proof of this were the spreads of him in tight shorts in fan magazines. Dick also solidified his burgeoning career with the mini-series "Thorn Birds" that also starred Barbara Stanwyck and Jean Simmons. Years later, when I read his autobiography, I learnt that he was gay. By that time, so many actors had come out of the closet, it wasn't shocking to learn that Dick was gay. We still maintain that he was a fantastic actor and our admiration lingers on.

Whats a big deal if he is a gay. There is no need to label him that way. That's just cruel to humiliate this wonderful human being. Richard has a beautiful soul and his real identity is so personal and none of our business. Knowing the truth did not change a bit or take away my adoration to this man. I love him for so many reason. He will always be my favorite and i will love him forever.

Richard Chamberlain is a fabulous actor, with few who come close to being as convincing in so many genres. Tom Hanks is up there, but as a leading man he doesn't quite have "it". Richard undoubtedly has more screen time and so far a much longer career.

An amazing actor, focused over all in dramatic roles in their mature years and in adventure while he was younger, (all the Dumas books he played in movies, the count of monte cristo, the man in the iron mask.....), with a private life, ok, he has the right.

I love hearing how Richard Chamberlain received more fan mail than Clark Gable during Gone With The Wind. I'll go that one better. During his reign as mega heartthrob Doctor James Kildare, Chamberlain received more fan mail than Elvis Presley!! The great Presley only exceeded him after he was drafted into the Army. THAT'S HOW BIG CHAMBERLAIN WAS!! Yes, Chamberlain was Homosexual. That was his lifestyle choice that he kept hidden from the masses. And his legions of adoring fans. A more obvious fact is that he is indisputably the classiest celebrity to ever enthrall the public. A rabid guard dog wouldnt bite this man!! Simply because he treated everyone the way he would want to be treated. Without question the finest example of "The Golden Rule" in any celebrity that ever existed. And the mist deserving of the adulation accorded him.

In a further comment, Iceberg5670 is clearly among those fans I am referring to. People who aspire to something higher in their pop cultural icons. That it isn't enough to have a certain look. Or a certain status. In today's Septic Tank of toxic celebrities, Stars openly court any manner of publicity they can garner. To them, even negative attention is better than no eyeballs on them!! Richard Chamberlain earned his stature the old-fashioned way. With a demeanor and style so disarming, he was impossible to dislike. Not even by men who must have been pea green with envy watching him. Perhaps the handsomest actor that ever lived, Chamberlain, was that rarest of all icons. A human being whose personal qualities exceeded even his glorious attributes. Even his sexuality was kept private for fear of offending his millions of fans. Keep Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise. Devoid of any personal qualities beyond a dimpled smile and piercing blue eyes. Chamberlain had all that and more. Plus something they will never possess. Timeless class and personal dignity.
