Glad to see you doing it, but now it's time to do a song similar to this in reverse that you have to play the live version that's going to trip you out in "The Rain" by Oran Juice Jones. Don't forget "Be For Real" by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes featuring Teddy Pendergrass. (All the talking and old-schooled rapping you can stand) I can't forget another favorite in Marlene Shaw "Go Away Lil Boy"(It's good)

Nice! Follow this up with Johnny Taylor’s “It’s Cheaper to Keep Her”.

Betty Wright's input made this song! She made a response to this song called "Goodbye You Hello Him" but I love how she did a posthumous duet with Marvin Gaye onf his hit "Distant Lover". Her "Clean Up Woman", "Baby Sitter", "Where Is The Love", "Tonight Is The Night" and "Girls Can't Do What The Guys Do (And Still Be A Lady)" are also worth a listen as they helped define the Southern version of songs involving a "Love Triangle."

This song only played on soul radio stations. When I first heard this song in 1981 couldn't believe the anger that came through this woman's voice. I kept turning the radio dial hoping to find this song again and again and when I did I tried to memorize the song and I made a joke about it with my friends as I tried to mimic Betty Wright. I believe this is the time I started hearing the term angry black woman. I would have bought the record but for some reason not all record stores carried this song.

You're right. This is one of the joints that's telling on many people's situation. I've seen it on both sides. This is why it's so important to make yourself happy, healthy, and staying connected with the God within before getting involved with anyone.

@@Dabridge4009 First off , I hated this man's voice and I hated this song, but the people around me dug it. The flimsy excuse this man gives this woman for not being able to be with her 100% is stupid. Then trying to blame the wife for his position, ah hell nah! This just goes to show you how emotional folk get when it comes to relationship. He could just simply get a divorce, but no, he wants to cheat because that's easier. What a coward and old girl is a fool. Wish someone had made a song about the silliness of all this. Lol!
