This was one of the earliest electronic scores and it fits the eerie setting of the movie perfectly. The music possesses a haunting, ghostly and at times enigmatic quality which is one of the reasons why this movie has become a small cult-classic.

Thanks for posting. The soundtrack is at least half of what I love about the movie.

This is my friends...absolutely brilliant!!! 50% of this movie is the music. That´s for sure.

Another movie in which the score really made the film was The Keep. The first ten minutes, especially, was well done. Everything was incorporated into that musical piece, including a match being struck and lit. I was lucky enough to see it on the big screen when it was released (yeah, I'm that old), and they had a great sound system. You could feel the low notes of the music and it meshed with the visuals of the troops entering the village. It's too bad they cut the crap out of that movie. I know people today would find the movie lacking in special effects, but there's some good acting (Gabriel Byrne) and Tangerine Dream was superb.

@@sidfinster9298 Right on!! Love both OST. Unfortunate about the true soundtrack for the Keep not being available.

The soundtrack freaks me out twice more than the mutated, amphibious Death Corp unit.

Richard Einhorn - after The Passion of Joan of Arc that guy is absolute tops in my book, a truly brilliant composer! His soundtrack definitely added so much to the film, spare and alone is how it feels which was the situation the shipwrecked characters were in.

If you check out Richard Einhorn's CV he does not mention this film!

Just discovered this film last week, and the score adds an element of dread and doom which wove in tremendous depth to an already cool story. I had to buy the vinyl!

Can someone give me the title of the music we hear at the first appearance of Peter Cushing? It looks like classical music. Thank you. ( sorry if there are mistakes, I'm french ^^ ' )

Le compositeur, Richard Wagner sans aucun doute. Quant à l'oeuvre, la tonalité me rappelle " Tristan und Isolde".. .

@@popup2296 Bien vu ! C'est vrai que ça peut être du Wagner. Je vais étudier ça. Merci beaucoup ! :)

This film is on Pluto currently if anyone is interested. Its a decent flick with a cool backstory. It's less of a Horror, more of Suspense.

Does anyone know where the music in the first minute is from? It was probably directly produced for this? But does anyone know if i can find the full songs somehwere?
