This is literally not an exaggeration. I drove from Frankfurt to Paris and literally EVERY SINGLE car parked in Paris on the street had horrendous scratches allllll around the bottom half of the car from the front bumpers to the sides to the back and similar scratches on the medians on the street. Needless to say, I paid for a parking garage where the spaces were generous.

Yeah but you don't use the handbrake. Chances are too that the car has moved a few carplaces forward or backward. Getting keyed is common too. It's a souvenir from "the Hood" you are parked in.

As a french man myself, let me correct you. The parking thing is only true in Paris, where finding a spot to park is an absolute nightmare. Do this anywhere else in France and you'll get into a fist fight with the owner of the bumped car. For the trunk thing, pure bs i've never heard or seen anyone do that, 99% would know to use "tendeurs" (strong elastic rope with hook at the ends) and keep the trunk partially opened. Classic baseless english-french banter. Keep inventing stereotypes to embarass us despite the wars being over since centuries. Grow up dear englishmen.
