For me its more about the mental aspect of the work. It means for me the search for meaning in general. The existential crisis everyone at one time faces. It is less important for me to question what flowers there are… It gives me the clear and harsh reality of being in this world without a guide. This line shows me the process of thinking. Overthinking. Why don’t you question what Richard Long was thinking while he made the line? Why only question what he heard or saw? Anyways, everybody has it’s own perspective and meaning about this work (obviously). But I felt this observation about the work was taken too literal which is not wrong at all but for me there are more interesting ways to look at it. That is the human being, everybody has its own perception!
