I just came across this golden nugget listening to the alternative radio this morning. It really knocked my socks off!

"it's a desperate game we play ~ throw our souls, our lives away, on wounds that can't be mended and debts that can't be paid ~ oh, I played and I got STUNG, now I'm biting back my tongue, and sweepin' out the footprints where I strayed..." what a musical treasure this man is. In a class of his own. ♡

Writing in 2020 - the season of the coronavirus - this song could well be the most appropriate theme tune.

I was grocery shopping today, and thanks to all the stupid twats who kept getting too close, this song came to mind.

A topical song for 2020; like a salve, a balm, or a poultice, good for whatever ails ya"!

This is song has so much more than an accidental association with today’s troubles. This song was kicking my ass well before I ever heard it.

and may I say that few are equally adept at electric and acoustic guitar, yet still manage to approach them as different instruments

Hallelujah = a man who understands…AND has the honesty to speak of the inner workings of the heart in his (mostly excellent) songs, unapologetically (hey Sting, u could take a leaf out of THAT particular book vis your brutally truthful song Every Move…but i digress!). ;) RT is one of the most under-rated guitarists, IMO, as well as a writer some of whose songs have landed on my personal all-time favourites list. :) Thx for sharing this!

Wonderful...... and a mystery 'solved'!! A good friend of mine used to play this and at some point, he gave me a sheet with the words and chords. I just came across the sheet whilst sorting through the song books and realised I had no idea who did it originally. Now I know.

Wonderful song! Phil Beer (Show Of Hands) often sings this in his solo sets.

Hey, chill. Do you play ? I takes more than a few chords or even songs to harmonize. They are, and always will be. three experts in their own field of music, and then enjoy sharing, after a warm up

I like the way Richard looks over at Suzanne right before the first chorus as if to say 'you know this song, right? oh, you don't?' But Suzanne figures out the word 'distance' is in there a lot so she tries to find a harmony...
