I continue to be amazed at the hype of this unit. Why? Ever regular infantry division stayed more or less ON the line. There were no going to a rear area to refit. This constant talk of intense combat in Normandy and Holland was no different than regular infantry units.

I never heard of regular infantry divisions dropping behind enemy lines to secure and hold important areas.

Nobody had heard of them prior to the book and then they became famous from the series. They were a great company but there were hundreds of others just as special. If I do a video on other units I hardly get any views.

Consider that only 1% of soldiers were Airborne qualified and that it was a volunteer position. Most other combat units were made up of draftees or other enlisted. There is an attitude and an ethos among the Airborne that they are better than the average soldier and are expected to perform at a higher level. Each soldier is essential to the war effort and there are heroes in all units. The Airborne faces a significantly greater risk of death in their operations and they face it knowingly and willingly because that is their nature.

The difference is that Easy company did more than other companies, and they happen to have been a special group. Intentional or not,that's how it how it worked out. So they get more attention than the average outfits

That is incorrect. The veterans happen to run across fake historian S Ambrose at a reunion and started chatting. It is only because of the book but more the TV series that they are even known. For almost 50 years nobody ever heard of them in a practical sense. The Pacific series suffered as it came second and didn’t follow one unit or set of characters although they went through much worse than EZ company.
