Richard Gene, I just thought I'd let you know. My neighbor and fishing buddy for the past three years passed away Wednesday. We both watched every video you put out and enjoyed talking about the new ideas we got from them. We both learned a lot from you. His name is Dennis Sutton he was 61 years young and an avid fisherman. I went o over to talk to him about possibly going fishing Friday and found him laying on the floor. He passed from a heart attack. He was a very good friend to me and I'm deeply saddened by the loss. He lived by himself and I knew he had health issues in the past so I always made it a habit to go check on him and talk to him at least every few days. We both enjoyed working on his cars, boat, and going fishing together. I opened KZbin this evening and seen your video and it kind of hit me hard. I'm not a very emotional kind of guy but it immediately made me think of him as tears swelled up in my eyes. I'll never forget the day he caught his Personal best largemouth bass (9lb 7oz.) To a dear friend, Dennis Sutton, May heaven open the gates to let you in and have a fishing pole waiting for you on the other side. I'll miss you, Rest easy my friend.

Youre a treasure Richard! Now that professional bass fishing has officially entered the twilight zone, it's refreshing to see a man fish purely for joy and relaxation. Corporate suits have destroyed this aspect of fishing for many, for the lure of paychecks and pride. $500 boat payments, 25 rods and reels, 3 12" sonars, and the $1000's of dollars in gas has stolen the joy from so many anglers. Thank you for helping us keep the right perspective.

Fishing has been corrupted over the years no doubt. Tournament fishing and all that goes with it - 'go fast' boats, racing from point to point, hawking the lure of the week, lack of patience, lack of civility, etc. etc. I do not watch any fishing tournaments on tv any more. It is so refreshing to watch Richard Gene. He is entertaining AND informative.

...”because remember only 10% of any lake holds the fish...the rest of it’s just barren desert.” TRUTH and one of the most valuable lessons you have taught me through your channel Mr. Gene. You are always fishing over FISH. Sight fishing in a clear water small stream or river, shooting docks, fishing live bait or jigs around bridge pilings, watching for bird or bait activity at the surface, eddies along the river bank, searching out rock piles with your depth finder, whatever...always where the fish are.

I do like a stinger on a spinnerbait, but I suck at fishing with spinners. Hopefully this helps! =) I use aquarium tubing on the trailer hook so it keeps the stinger straight and doesn't hang up on things on a cast. Give 'er a try Mr. Gene!
