I am a 69-year-old woman and I just got out there and changed the air filter in my Hyundai sonata…thanks to you. Thank God I waited till the early evening when it was cooler to do it. I didn’t have any trouble getting the snaps off and the old filter out but I super struggled to get the new one seated in correctly because the housing doesn’t come off but about 2/3 of the way and the new one didn’t want to seat itself in there but giving up is not possible for me and after a 20 minute struggle I did it!!! next time will be a piece of cake?!

I understand they have overhead but really the filter is $12 (retail) and it takes 5 minutes to replace. A fair price would be $20 to $25 including the filter. You totally can do this. Thanks for commenting and watching.

Thank you sir. This helped me change my mom's air filter who the dealership was going to charge $30. The filter was $8 at Advance. The filter was a little different in that the arrow pointed toward the closed end instead of the open end like the hyundai filter. THANKS AGAIN.

Thank you so much for this video! I think after watching it I can change my Sonata's cabin air filter too. I searched for this because at Valvoline they changed my cabin air filter and they left so much debris in my car that I was wondering where is it coming from. Now I know it, but they should have cleaned it out from my car. However thanks to Valvoline's poor job, now I know how to clean or change my cabin air filter and thanks to Richard Lloyd's video now I can save about $30-$40 the next time. :)

thanks for all your videos..i bought a used 2012 sonata...and you are very helpful...the first video I watched was for the drivers turn signal...couldn't figure it out..then I looked like the pro in front of my neighbors!!!..if you read this though I am having trouble with my blue tooth...it worked fine for a few months but now the voice command doesn't work...I can dial from the radio but not the steering wheel...I took out the fuse and put it back but same issue...any ideas?

Have you tried a different phone on it just to see if it does the same thing? Let's rule out your phone first. If the second phone exhibits the same behaviour you know it's not your phone. Then you can go forward from there. Get back to me I have another idea of what it may be and it may be under warranty too. The part in question is called a clock spring. Here is a break down of what that is www.hyundai-forums.com/veracruz-forum/137595-clock-spring-replacement-campaign.html but I would recommend if you suspect that it's that type of issue to take it to the dealership for further appraisal. Thanks.

Thank you for this educational video, is good to save money , I just came from Pep Boys, and they ask $33.90 for this one and $24 for the engine air filter.BTW I dont get it, those 7 dislikes at your video, I dont know what are the people expecting for a educational video. As a matter fact before yours I watched a short one (1:43') and needed one more explicit like yours, Thanks again

I replaced the filter on my 2006 Kia Sedona and it's pretty much the same. I checked online for a filter and then called the Kia Dealer and it was cheaper at the dealer then online. When my wife gets home I'll check the one in her 2012 Sonata.

Hi Richard - I used your other video to help replace head lights! TY . You mention below that you no longer own the 2011 Sonata. Can I ask why? I am the original owner with 88K on mine and it is nickel and diming me to death. So many little things are falling apart on it. Took it in the get the clock spring fixed on the steering wheel (after replacing the coupling) two months ago and now the hood struts need replacing. What 6yr old car needs the hood struts replaced??? I have replaced so many things I would get a headache go over it right now . . . I paid cash for the car in 2011 and dread the thought of buying another car, but do you believe the 2011 is just a crappy car and I will be replacing the car bit by bit for as long as I own it. Thats how I feel right now. .. your thoughts? (p.s.- I know the Car Complaints website said to avoid this year 2011 "like the plague". Tell me about it!

You are welcome. I am sorry to hear your troubles with your car. I did not have any such issues with mine and I had 67,000 miles on it when I traded it in. It was a very reliable car for me. I actually regretted selling it as I enjoyed the turbo and how it handled. I traded it in for a 2014 KIA Sorento SXL as we needed an SUV for our family. Shortly after I bought a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe as second vehicle which has served me well too but obviously it does not have the fun wow factor the Sonata had. LOL. BTW I did have minor issues with it like tail lights and small stuff like that but that is normal wear and tear as far as I am concerned. I did hear they had a engine recall on the 2011 as well but I had sold the car by then. Make sure you call Hyundai and check on the recall status of your car. I called about my 2003 Santa Fe and they are still honouring a recall safety notice on the front springs for mine for FREE (cool) and I am not the original owner. Again sorry to hear it, thanks for watching and commenting. All the best.

I purchased my 2011 2.0T new and still own it. Currently has 106k on it as I commute a distance. In all honesty it has been the most reliable vehicle that I have ever owned. I keep up with all of the suggested maintenance. Knock on wood it’s been great!
