How I extract my honey at our small workshop here in Brittany. its really important that when setting up something like this that you correctly invest in proportion to what your long term output is g likely to be.
No matter how much you spend, you will never get your money back if your flows are in proportion to the money you've invested in your equipment.
Huge thanks Ikson for the music in the video.

Hi Randy, yes it’s not around much these days. It’s Italien by manufacture. I am trying to find the spec on it again for someone else . If I do I will let you know. Twin spinning loose metal flanges that scratch away the combs as the frame passes through. It’s actually similar to an American make that has a chain conveyor . You put the frames in just lying on their sides and it does the same job. Thanks for your comment! Hope to meet you soon! Best regards ! Just found it, this original model was made by LEGA in Italy. There is now a third updated model called Daisy. Here is the link :www.legaitaly.com/en/products/uncapping/uncapping-machine/semiautomatic-uncapping-machine-daisy.264

Thanks for the honesty and insite, 10 years now beek, got 30, and the flow is on well. Thinking about how to handle this much flow, I like your floatation method of handling the extractor wax. Past I have always dealt with it right out of the extractor, but I see the barrel method a real advantage. Thanks for the walk around, I am on a good flow and am trying to figure out how to how to get it our the best. 100 gallons is my norm, but I have a good feeling that I am going to double that this season and am trying to figure how to handle that. Thanks for the data. I know this one is old, I do watch your videos often, hopefully I can begin building a honey house myself some day. Congrats and thank you for the info.

How do you handle your drums of honey? Do you pump it out into a bottling tank or buckets later on? Right now I'm dealing with 120 5 gallon pails of honey (which takes up a TON of space) and would like to move to drums next season. Love the video, an oldie but a goodie!

good question. we aim to extract all out honey with in 2 to 3 weeks of harvesting, otherwise, yes, wax moth becomes active and starts in the supers.

You talk like you're embarrassed! I use crush and strain if you want to talk inefficient and time consuming. What you have looks like a Rolls Royce, especially if you only have to extract twice a year. As you say - what works for you. Thanks for the video, merry Christmas and nice cat!

Was there a certain "Number" of hives that was hard to get to? Before u started really having success like 100 hives then u can split have 200 then split have 400 ..Its easy to make bees when u have them but what number were u at (best guess) before u just started climbing and no more up an back down ,only up..Is this even how it went for you,maybe just how goes for me lol

Excellent video-there are only four channels I watch on KZbin and you are one of them. I was wondering if you could perhaps speak a bit about the scale of your operation. Over here in the states, the general reccomendation for size of a beekeeping business is 500 to 1000 hives, but you seem to be doing it on a much smaller scale. Do you wholesale honey or retail and what price do you get wholesale in France? Do you do queen or nuc sales at all?

Richard, what time of year are you extracting here in this video? Also, where do you store your honey supers before you extract?
@richardnoel3141
@richardnoel3141 5 жыл бұрын
Hello, We extract in end of May for the spring flow and starting end of July for the summer flow. We put our empty supers back on the hives after their extracted so the bees clean them out of any last drops of honey and then we store them outside and dry for the winter but protected from mice.

Nice setup Richard, hopefully one day i will need something like that. We cap by hand still and use an old Stainless chest freeser to hold the frames till we get space in the extractor. A question about the auto decapper, does it adjust automatically to the different thickness of frames, ie the 8 frame super frames are a lot thicker than the 10 frame ones. Thanks for sharing as always and i hope you and family have a nice christmas break before the new year starts.
@richardnoel3141
@richardnoel3141 5 жыл бұрын
Derek Greenhalgh hi Derek, yes it does adjust but not automatically, all you do it wind in or wind out one or two of the motors on top of the set up. This then adjusts the width of the central recapping area! In large plastic frames drawn on 8 per box we have to open the frames right up! It’s a great basic machine they does save a lot of time at this level of amount of hives. Thanks for your kind comments. Have a great festive period!

inefficient! why cut off the wax by hand and machine: you can do this in a single operation if you insert it into the centrifuge and it is equipped accordingly! you do too much extra work! short distances are my goal: unfortunately there are no machines on the market for this! I have to develop it myself! hahaha: german electronics! so what, too! suppose you have a lot of bees - so you have to quickly remove, clean, and hurl a lot of honeycombs: this is of course not possible with manual work! that is far too inefficient! how do you make the wax out of the honeycomb? also by hand? no, no: you do this mechanically with steam and disinfect the honeycombs at the same time! there are apparently many different honeycomb formats! cleaning the machines is crazy! so many and so much to cleanse, to cleanse!
