How to Setup Your Python Environment (With VSCode & Anaconda)

In this video, I walk you through how to set up your Python development environment. If you're a complete beginner, you'll probably be good with just Anaconda/JupyterLab/Jupyter Notebooks. If you're going to be a serious developer, you'll want to use Visual Studio Code and as a best practice set up virtual environments.

Great! I come from R programming, and struggled with this. Uninstalling a previous install of Anaconda was a nightmare; some error occured during uninstall regarding pre_uninstall..?? Anyways it didn't uninstall completely, so in the end I searched through my registry and deleted all entries of "anaconda". Finally it disappeared from uninstall under apps in windows. So now I am ready to start fresh following your guidance :) Powershell is brand new to me; what could go wrong if I didn't do that step? Do you have any recommendations on which software could be used to completely remove the Anaconda distribution in the future if needed? Clearly it's own uninstall is unable to completely remove it. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work! :) PS! I am not going to quit on R programming, but I think I also have to learn some Python due to it's popularity

Anaconda is extremely useful, no doubt about it. But, a couple of days ago I needed to uninstall it, and it messed up my Windows OS. For example, I could not use the command prompt, which was very, very annoying. The uninstall process of Anaconda corrupted registry files.

That’s a Windows problem, but using windows in the first place says a lot about the programmer!

I literally received multiple video requests for this topic from people with exactly this background. It’s common to learn R in school and fall in love with RStudio as an IDE.
