Haha...just wait until you see him sing, and play guitar, bass, keyboards, percussion... His a cappella version of "Moon River" is not to be believed.

It must be incredible to be part of something like this. Just watching it, gives you goosebumps. This is indeed a spiritual experience. To quote from Wikipedia: "Jacob Collier is an English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and educator. His music incorporates a combination of jazz with elements from many other musical genres, and often features extensive use of reharmonisations and close harmony. He is known for his energetic live performances, in which he often conducts the audience to sing harmony or percussion parts." He does some very interesting things, e.g. using microtones (notes that exists in between the keys on a piano). Some consider him a musical genius.

I'm very glad you found this. It makes me laugh and cry (with joy) all over. They _are_ an audience, but many of his fans are musicians . I think this says a lot about human beings and our personal and shared relationship with music. Please consider reacting to _Jacob Collier - Little Blue | @MahoganySessions_ the 'choir' are fans who responded to Jacob's invitation to meet him and sing later the same day. A person claiming to have participated commented that with very little preparation, we learned the song, rehearsed and performed it, all in about 2 hours. I've read comments under several of his 'audience choir' videos. People say the experience was *_Transcendent_* (beyond or above the range of normal or physical human experience). Best Wishes. ☮

That was improvised. Imagine not knowing much about him and going to his concert and being in the audience as part of this at the end. That's what happened to me at the Kennedy Center after seeing his band with a full orchestra. I wouldn't have thought it was possible. He's done these audience choirs in many places and incorporated those sounds into one recording of Little Blue. Jacob is a near Mozart level genius except that he can sing too with precision control and a huge range. He plays about 20 instruments, several quite expertly. Hes started as a jazz wunderkind doing multi-track covers all by himself (like Moon River) but then started collaborating with many artists on his own songs as well. He also informally teaches music theory.. All Night Long features his multi-instrumentalism along with Take 6 but if you like choral stuff check out the Mahogany Sessions version of Little Blue, Witness Me or the link below from the concert I saw where had a guest professional choir as well. Very complex harmonies. That piece will be on the DJesse Volume 4 album coming out at the en of this month. Also his song with saje that just won his 6th Grammy. If you want more rockish or jazzy try Wellll or Don't You Know with Snarky Puppy, a band who you should also look into. Jacob dos lots of soft and folkish songs like Makes Me Cry, Hajanga and Hideaway. His videos are pretty creative too. Some he created and edited himself. kzbin.info/www/bejne/p6jbg6yLo9qdrMk

Thank you for this wonderfully sweet reaction. I'd love to see you react to Jeff Buckley, "Grace", live (I live the BBC Show version). His vocal elasticity and control were out of this world.

Besides 'Moon River,' which is a masterpiece but can be overly complex for some, as I believe it's the most harmonically and musically intricate song ever created, you should check out his 'Little Blue' (especially the Mahogany version), which is much closer to what you just listened to.

I am not a musician or any technical knowledge of music, but Jacob Collier's seems to affect me emotionally and spiritually, sorry of that sounds a bit naff. I would not normally listen to the sort of music he often makes, but I think it is his total freedom and fearlessness to his own music. He seems to make music which moves him and he hopes others will be moved by it too, but I think that is an after thought. A very unique talented musician that I hope continues to make music for many years to come.
