First part of a another super FUN group bash, focusing on the new Proline Pro MT 4x4. Sorry for complaining, but build quality issues really frustrated me last night and I wanted to give people a heads up. Big shout out to Jeff and Gary from KillerOffRoadHobbyz for making the drive down. Gary had no issues with his Proline MT, but his solder came loose and ended his run. Definitely digging this little ripper, just need to adjust to its sensitivities and maybe tone down the brake some. Much more footage to share soon. There were some big to HUGE airs going down.

Dam that's one crazy basher bro ive never seen anything fly through the air quite like that little beast! Man it's fast! Hats off to you brother for going out big off the bat like that it was an awesome introduction of the mt4x4 for sure..........and we all know you gotta go out and break parts to start with on any RC! 👌👍👊 bummer about the quality issues, gotta admit i didn't see that coming from proline!! Hope they sort you out bro, at least it's all on file here for them to see and im sure they're watching! 👌👍🤘🤙✌👊

Pain in the RC thanks so much brother!!! This little rig is serious FUN no doubt. I figured out what happened to the pillow ball Delrin cups thanks to TheChainsaw10👍👍. The pillow ball nut rubs on the spinning inner wheel hex if it isn't completely seated into the hub and superheats it until the Delrin cup melts!!! Proline is aware of the issue now I'm told. Going to try TA RC8T hex extenders soon. At least I know I broke the truck this time with a bad jump...Lol. Still impressed with it so far. 🙋🙋😱😲😲😲😵😎💪💪👊👊

Noeys FastRc thanks so much brother!!! Sorry I missed your message. This little rig is BADASS. Fixed it and took it out again for a solid hard run at a big BMX track bash and am blown away at the speed, handling, and durability. Yes, it has some kinks to work out no doubt, but can honestly say this is the funnest, most capable 1/10th I've ever driven. Hoping to post vid soon my friend. Ready Set RC thanks so much my friend!!! This rig is pretty darn cool despite a few QC build issues and frustrations. I'll probably reach out to Proline, but have been informed they're aware of the key problems. It's a great design IMHO, and impressively tough. Planning on making some alterations to improve handling. Small, overpowered RCs are very challenging to bash and that's right up my alley...Lol!!! Very touchy in the air with my electronics anyhow. Yeah its sad for a truck that this much would have so many build issues. I was not happy having to deal with the same issues on all (3) trucks I bought. Hopefully Pro-Line sees all of this and does something to change their build process.
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
TX's Tek Custom Rcs I couldn't agree more brother and really appreciate your help and feedback. The sad part is the design of this rig seems KILLER overall. Just goes to show how critical proper assembly is with the interdependence of all it's parts. I'm sure Proline will correct things in the quality control area. It would definitely make good business sense anyhow.🍻😦😦😎💪👊👊
@txstekcustomrcs9005
@txstekcustomrcs9005 6 жыл бұрын
Yes I agree, the truck is designed fantastically.. I think they just rushed on the first batch to get them out in time or on schedule.. Pro-Line should had just delayed it if that's the case. I agree, I'm sure they will tighten their assembly process up and make sure these kits come out better assembled. I feel bad for the ones that don't know really how to work on these trucks and or follow social media to see what were are dealing with.. That's the ones that will have some serious issues and put the negative feedback out there... So hopefully this isn't happening on the second batch. I will be posting my trucks soon on the page.. Just been working a lot. Great video again bro, can't wit to see your next run with this truck!

Hey DuperDude. My ProMt 4x4 also melted a cup in exactly the same way on my first run. I’ve got pics on rc tech forums. Here’s what happens. The metal pillow ball retainer set screw MUST be at least flush when set into the hub...really should be recessed a tad. If it sticks out at all the spinning wheel contacts the set screw and unscrews it while running. Then the wheel causes friction against the metal set screw ....the heat contucts to the white plastic cup and melts it like a marshmallow. The problem is if you set the retainer screw recessed the suspension binds...need wider hubs so the wheel doesn’t contact the set screw really. Or, you can take a little material off the outside of the set screw so it sets in deeper. I talked to Proline and they’re aware of the design flaw. Hopefully they come up with a fix. They’re sending me new parts. I currently have a Traxxas Summit pillow ball retainer in place...works great...just had to shorten it a bit
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
TheChainsaw10 thanks so much for this brother!!! I couldn't figure out how it melted, but I also couldn't believe I could've missed that big white Delrin booger pushing out...Lol. All makes perfect sense now. Really appreciate your detailed description of the problem. Glad to hear Proline is owning up to it. I'll probably use Traxxas replacement as you did for now. Big props to you my friend. Thanks for your help with this!!!🍻🙋🙋😲😲😲😵😱😎💪👊👊
@TheChainsaw10
@TheChainsaw10 6 жыл бұрын
Rich Duperbash ...I don’t think Proline guys actually knew why it was happening either...they knew it was happening though. I explained my thoughts to him and he agreed I was right. The Summit/REVO retainers are a one piece thing. Plastic, but I’ve never had one fail. You just have to shorten it a bit. Same diameter and threads as the Proline retainers.

TheChainsaw10 thanks again brother!!! Was just at the LHS, I should've picked some up. Will definitely mod them to work if need be. I'm thinking it was only a problem on one side cuz the pillow ball nut was backed out a tad on that side??? Really appreciate your input bud!!!😎💪💪👊👊

TheChainsaw10 are you aware of a hex extender that will fit this little guy??? It would push the rim outward, solve the friction issue and make this guy way more stable at speed and when cornering.🤔🤔
@TheChainsaw10
@TheChainsaw10 6 жыл бұрын
Rich Duperbash yes, the Team Associated rc8t hubs will work. You just have to drill slightly larger holes in the Proline axles. The rc8t pins are slightly thicker. The pins will be held in with the rc8t circular spring clip that comes with the hubs(you won’t be using a threaded pin thingamajig that comes with the truck). I’m going to mount some on tonight. Join up at rc tech forums if you want to see pics. By the way...I’m also bending suspension mounts too..it is fun though

TX's Tek Custom Rcs thanks so much Steven, missed your message bro. Really appreciated your input on the Tekno forum bud. I'm totally digging this little RIPPER. Just had it out again 2 days ago and had an AWESOME fun bash. I'm very impressed at this point, she took a pretty serious beat down 😱. That same right front pillow ball retainer came loose again and started acting as a brake on the wheel hex. Caught it before the Delrin cup melted again. Hoping to load vid soon, but it gave me a way better feel for the speed, handling, and capability of this little BEAST. Turning the brake down to 25% and adding some toe out made a HUGE difference.🙋🙋😵😵😵😲😨😎💪👊👊

@txstekcustomrcs9005 6 жыл бұрын
Hahah no problem at all... I'm glad your videos and your feedback always has really good details... Wonder why that pillow ball keeps working itself loose.. Shouldn't be doing that with it being set into plastic... I would expect this in aluminum but not with a plastic arm. Wonder if just from the stress its working it's way out? Maybe a little loctite might help out even though its plastic? Can't wait to see your next video.. I hope to get mine out tomorrow as well. I will also get it on video but it wont be on a coarse like yours lol... Wish we had them around here.. haha anyhow bro great hearing back from you and I will keep an eye on my pillow balls as well... Great plan on the brake as well.. I run mine at 25% as well for 1/10th and 37% on 1/8th Cheers!
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
TX's Tek Custom Rcs just wanted to clarify, the pillow balls aren't coming loose in the arms. The lower pillow ball caps are backing out and hitting the rotating plastic wheel hexes. Pull the front wheels off and just be certain the lower pillow ball caps/retainers are fully seated. If they back out they eat into the wheel hexs and get super heated.😎💪👊👊

Ronnie zhou thanks so much brother, really appreciate the kind words bud. Too early to really rate durability overall with the Proline for me anyhow. The Tekno MT410 can definitely take a beating and is more capable overall. Not a cheap option by any means, but the Tekno has proven itself already as a great basher. Orsumm to see buddy's bashn great vid!! Im still not sure about the truck i saw once you were full throttle and turned and it flipped sideways!! I love high speed turns and it looks unstable in turns! I think i noticed you starting to slow down when you did turns!! Im really not a lover of cars under 1/8 scale handling tends to drop!!! When i got outcast i wasnt sure till i saw it how small it was but once you start getting smaller than that i dont like handling! I think your more an air guy than me i like driving a bit more! But it definatly looks fun! I also got a couple off subbs from your shoutout rich thankyou again!! Im still waiting to hear back from your hobbie supplier!! Cheers rich😎😉

BADDAZZ GARAGE thanks Glenn, appreciate it brother. Yeah this rig has too narrow of a stance to handle high speed turns with the grippy MX28s. If you can break into a slide you're OK. I definitely prefer 1/8 scale all the way. That said, there isn't another 1/10 on the market like this one and I personally enjoy the challenge of trying to control smaller/lighter rigs. I enjoy high speeds and air about equally. That's why I still love my Truggified Typhon more than all the others. It can handle really hard turns...etc.. but is still challenging just the same. Really just love the variety and swapping between them...Lol. I do my share of front yard and park tooling around. It's all good to me. Cheers and happy bashing brother!!!🙋🙋😵😵😲😱😎💪👊👊

Rich Duperbash no problem I'll keep on watching your videos. That little thing grew on me watching you review and bash and give updates on it so I finally went to tower hobbies and bought one. Just waiting for it to arrive. I've got a ton of 1/8 electronics so it made sense to buy something like this and I want something not so big I can rip around the yard also on the odd day. This one I can carry over to the park also and not attract a bunch of attention as I could stash it in a bag lol. Enjoy the rest of the weekend bro 👍🍻👍😎

Your delrin pillowball melted. Its a known issue by Proline. I talked to someone on the rctech forum. They talked to proline becuase they had the same issue. Whats happening is the screw that hold the pillowball in is rubbing on the inside of the rim and backing it out slightly. While this is happening the friction from the rim scraping against the pillowball screw creates alot of heat and melts the delrin inside. I seen a picture on rctech of a guy that had the delrin come ousing out of the screw just like you did. Call proline, they sent him a whole new hub carrier, pillowball, delrin insert, and a couple other things to replace his damaged parts. I have not got a chance to run my pro mt yet. Just up and down the road to test. I wanted to come out and bash with you guys today but family priorities came in the way. I was suppose to message Gary and he was gonna let me know if you guys where going out today but i never messaged him because i knew i wouldnt be able to make it. Hope you get the Pro MT back up and running. Seems like a handfull. Looks like a blast. Great video as always, Keep up the great bash vids...

Having the same issue with my front hub. The wheel wasn't spinning so I took it off and noticed the screw that hold the pillow ball was a few threads sticking out. I haven't removed the hub yet but I can move it back and forth so I assume the hub is defective. Bummer. Hope proline is doing something about this! I only drove it around my driveway a little. Not even a full pack yet.

Bakerboyzzz RC that's a bummer brother. Mine hasn't moved since putting a single wrap of Teflon tape around the nut threads, same thin wrap you use on pipe fittings. I bought some Vibra-tite incase it comes out again. The lower pillow ball nut should be flush or slightly recessed into the hub. May need to check your Delrin insert didn't melt inside. The wheel hex hits the nut in such a spot as to spin it even looser/back it out counter clockwise 😨. The RC8T hex extenders I'm running makes that impossible. Good luck with it bro. 🍻🙋🙋😨😵😵😵😲😎💪👊👊

Rich Duperbash thank man! I have those hub extenders. I plan on doing that tomorrow. I'll use some of that plumbers tape and that should do it. Everything else is good so far. Bakerboyzzz RC hey no problem brother. Be mindful when you drill out your axels if using the RC8T extenders. I used a titanium Milwaukee 1/8" bit from Home Depot. First used 7/64" to getter started. Used channel locks to hold the axel steady when drilling straight down. Happy bashing brother!!!😎💪👊👊

great vid question u think the setup in the arrma will work with the proline pro mt 4x4? Hobbystar 1730kv 4092 long can motor paired with the Mamba Monster X
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
Guy Rose thanks brother, but the 1730 4092 is WAY too big and heavy for the 1/10 scale Proline MT. It's a friggin TANK...Lol!!! Even normal size 1/8 scale electronics are big for this little ripper. Trust me on this. The truck was designed for either 1/10 or 1/8 motors, but many are getting killer results with both. In the end, you can only get so much power to the ground in such a light platform. The Mamba Monster X ESC with a 2200kv would be insane too!!! This little guy RIPS with BLX electronics. Had a KILLER full pack bash yesterday and it was insanely FUN!!! 🙋🙋😵😵😵😨😱😎💪👊👊

Guy Rose no problem brother. The motor size is up to you, but if running a Mamba Monster X, I'd strongly consider the Castle 2200kv, 1515. Doesn't need to be sensored. Any 1/8 motor between 2000-2200kv will absolutely RIP, especially on 4s voltage. 😎💪👊👊

Rich how did you fix the problem with the delrin insert coming through the set screw? Or did you just order a new insert?
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
Brad Thornhill the problem is caused by friction if the pillow ball nut makes contact with the rotating inner wheel hex. My Delrin insert had melted and needed replacement. I permanently solved this issue by adding Team Associated RC8T hex extenders. It's impossible for the wheel to rub that nut with the extenders and the ride is WAY better. Did also put Teflon tape on the pillowball nut threads just to tighten the fit. Had to drill out the axel pin holes with a 1/8" bit to fit the new hex set pins. 😎💪👊👊

@richduperbash2966

Tp-Parts Rc-Xtreme thanks Thomas, fortunately I got a good price with a coupon code. So I figured out the problem thanks to a viewer. If the lower aluminum pillow ball nut is not totally flush with the hub, it rubs the inner plastic wheel hex with each rotation, super heats the nut to where the Delrin cup inside actually melts!!! Proline is aware of the issue. They designed the lower hub almost flush with the plastic wheel hex when it's mounted. Just inspected the inside wheel hex closely and found concrete evidence of friction wear. Perfect circular area where the rubbing occurred. My speed runs probably melted that little white bastard...Lol!!!😲😲😲😵

That build quality stuff is keeping me away from this rig for a bit. The Proline name is synonymous with quality and this truck is taking some of that away. It's a tough rig, but those build issues are a problem and not everyone (most people) is going to tear them apart and rebuild them like they should and that will start to put a strain on the good name. Those light rigs are real squirrley on landings and tough to get them to stay on the wheels without some good trigger work. You did that nicely my friend!! I can't wait to see some more bashing from this little bad boy! Sucks your breakage has to be so deep in the RC and you gotta take all the time to fix it instead of bashing it!! Way she goes, I suppose!:) I just watched Tdogg's new Outcast... what a score! I would have bought it to.:) Sucks you have been feeling crappy, I did all weekend to! Hope you are feeling better now!

Stewdogg Stew thanks so much Stew!!! Totally agree with your assessment on the build QC issues. Proline will learn from this I'm sure. Keeping a solid reputation requires no corners be cut, especially rushing to fill orders with a new release. Could just be a couple assemblers feeling overworked and not being scrupulous. The overall strength clearly is interdependent of each component. Still very impressed with this little RIPPER!!! I definitely broke it this outing. This truck is wonderfully designed and very easy to work on. I'm widening it with RC8T hex extenders, turning my break down, adjusting the wheel base and front toe. This rig is squirrelly as f..k...Lol.. but rips hard and is MAD FUN!!! Actually handles surprisingly well for it's weight and size, just 4s 1/8 power on 1/10 frame 😨😨😱. Definitely can expect improvement with some adjustments. PS, feeling normal again finally!!! Appreciate that Brother.🙋🙋😵😵😵😲😰😰😎💪👊👊🍻

Good to hear you are feeling better! Do you have the extenders on the Proline now or are planning on it? It did look quite tippy in the cornering, so I could see the need for the extenders. I was reading about chainsaw10's experience with his Proline and he has had some troubles too. He had a pillow ball melt out, it kinda looked like the plastic you had hanging out in one of your videos. Was yours just extra material or a melted pillow ball?
@richduperbash2966
@richduperbash2966 6 жыл бұрын
Stewdogg Stew thanks brother. I owe a Huge thanks to Neville and Chainsaw10!!! Finally joined RC Tech forum thanks to Neville's tip and then Chainsaws comments on my vid. That white Delrin booger was infact my melted cup. It shouldn't be able to happen again with hex extenders as the wheel hex will be far removed from the lower pillow ball nut. Proline molded the lower hubs almost flush with the wheel hex 😨. It sets the stage for intense friction if the lower pillow ball nut backs out at all. Sadly reading several others are having servo saver breakages. I can confirm the critical piece is too thin, but it's further jeopardized by too tight a fitment on the steering post. Going to remove mine again and sand it like Vanning did his from the Arrma Forum. It doesn't piston up and down easily as the cambered pieces butt against each other regardless of spring tension setting. Waiting on parts still, but Chainsaw10 confirmed the RC8T hex extenders do work with the supplied cross pin if you just drill the axel to 1/8th". Still give Proline props for this design, just still weeding out issues that I shouldn't have to honestly.😎💪👊👊
