Larry Merchant has always been one of my favorites and he still is. His insights remain insightful! 88 years old and the man still has it! I love how he explains how all the excitement of a Mayweather fight ends when the first bell rings. After the big buildup, there is no excitement or drama in the actual fight whatsoever! "His (Mayweather's) first, second, and third priority when he goes into the ring is not to get hit." That about sums it up.

I don't really like Larry but I completely understand what he's saying. This is why people have been drawn to MMA. People don't want to see a display of skill. They want to see a brawl or a blood bath. Floyd is a Boxer in it's purest form. Boxers will always win the fight in any sport. He's not trying to injure himself. He often says he's going to retire from boxing, he doesn't want boxing to retire him.

I'm generally not a huge fan of Larry Merchant, but I have to hand it to him. For 86 years old, he still has a heck of a sense of humor. He made me laugh here.

Both boxing and MMA are popular you just don't pay attention. MMA is probably more popular in the US but Boxing is more popular internationally.

Boxing will always stay popular. It will have ups and downs, but this year is a good year for boxing. Klitschko vs Joshua, Mayweather vs McGregor or Triple GGG vs Canelo.

I agree with everything you said even w/ mayweather mcgregor. Even though I think it`s a joke and a huge con being pulled on people it will bring eyes to boxing even if it`s in a bad way.

Have some respect for someone else's opinion. You sound like a bunch of knee-jerkers commenting on their biased politic stances. Merchant and Mayweather have a long history of ring interviews. Larry was famous for being very direct and I do admit, he was a little tougher on Floyd because Floyd was at such a higher level than anyones else, but seemed a little disrespectful at times to his opponent (in the ring during the fight). However, Floyd always paid respects to his opponent AFTER the fight and I wish Larry Merchant would have acknowledged that a little more. Anyway, have some respect for someone else's opinion children.

Shows how much you know about Larry. The highlight of his career was interviewing Nelson Mandela. He revered Ali for his stance. He invested in Smokin Joe at the start of his career. He's not racist, he's just a real guy who doesn't let modern day SJW bs restrict his speech. Not saying I agree with all his points, but they don't get my panties in a bunch over it like the rest of today's society.

Boxing is a dying sport. People been watching one too many Rocky movies. Conor created some what life in it, but just for a bit. After the fight, regardless of result, boxing will die out again. People realised MMA is where real fighting happens.
